Biography:

The history of Meridian began in 2002 when four friends/musicians decided to pool their diverse musical tastes to produce something new and original. The early days saw the band produce a range of melodic rock songs, born from a mixture of individual inspiration and long days spent jamming in the studio. From the outset it was clear that Meridian had an original sound.

The band recorded a number of songs at Mill studios in Swords throughout 2002/2003. With the production expertise of Peter Eades (who has worked with a host of top-flight artists such as Thin Lizzy, Clannad, and Christy Moore) the band forged a sound based on guitar melodies complimented by strong vocal harmonies. While the band has always had a tendency for laying down big tracks in the studio, they have always managed to recreate the sound of their CDs in a live setting. Indeed, the initial batch of songs produced by the band were well received at a number of live shows around Ireland's capital city throughout 2002 and 2003.

Since then, Meridian have continually sought to develop their sound. There is no doubt that the band has matured significantly over the past couple of years. So too has their material!! In recent months the band has pushed the boundaries of guitar melodies and rhythm tracks, experimenting with various types of effects to create a 3D-like sound. At the same time they have incorporated a more upbeat tempo into their songs, which has proven to be a popular move with live audiences. The band are currently putting the finishing touches to a number of new songs in the studio. I have no doubt that these new songs will both surprise and delight.
