Michael Erlewine is an internationally known, award-wining, astrologer, with almost 40 years of experience in astrology. In 1977, Erlewine was the first astrologer to program astrology on microcomputers and make these programs available to the general public. His founded Matrix Software in 1978, which, along with a little company called Microsoft are the two oldest software companies on the Internet still in existence.
Michael Erlewine has written over twenty books and numerous articles on astrology and has been published in the most prestigious astrological journals and publications. Erlewine taught astrology for many years and has done one-on-one personal astrological readings or consultations for more than 30 years.
Aside from pioneering astrology on microcomputers, Erlewine has introduced many new astrological techniques to astrologers, including Local Space relocation, heliocentric techniques, deep-space astrology, and many others. His books astrology books include Astrophysical Directions, The Sun is Shining, Interface: Planetary Nodes, and Manual of Computer Programming for Astrologers.
Among other things Erlewine, with the staff at his company Matrix Software, introduced the first computer-generated astrology reports, the first research oriented software, the first relocation software for home computers, the first on-screen hi-resolution graphics astrologer, first deep-space maps and astrology, and much more.
Erlewine has produced and marketed more than 30 conferences over the years and along with astrologer Charles A. Jayne, introduced “ACT: Astrological Conferences on Techniques” to major conferences (AFA, UAC, etc.) a series of open forums, where well-known astrologers met and discussed topics of importance to the future of astrology in front of a participating audience.
Erlewine and Matrix Software have received scores of awards, and Erlewine himself has received major awards from the American Federation of Astrologers, UAC (United Astrology Congress), Professional Astrologers, Incorporated, and other organizations.
The Heart Center Astrological Library
The Heart Center Astrological Library is the largest astrological library in the U.S. that is open to the general public. Established by Margaret and Michael Erlewine in the early 1980s, the Heart Center Library contains many rare books and magazines that are long out-of-print and virtually impossible to locate. Visited by many scholars over the years, who make the trip to research particular topics.

Erlewine has had several careers, as a musician in the 1960s, an astrologer, and an Internet content pioneer. He was active in the Michigan folk scene in the late '50s and early '60s, traveling with Bob Dylan, and other folk acts. In the middle '60s he was the lead singer in the Prime Movers Blues Band; other members included his brother Dan, and Iggy Pop (James Osterberg).
In the 1990s, Erlewine founded the All Music Guide (allmusic.com), the All Movie Guide (allmovie.com), and the All Game Guide (allgame.com), and ClassicPosters.com. The first site in particular has become an important popular music reference that licenses its content to numerous other websites, the largest music database in the world..
Today Erlewine lives in Big Rapids, Michigan, with his wife. They have four children. Erlewine oversees the Heart Center Library, probably the largest astrological library in the U.S. that is open to the public. Erlewine has an active recording studio and the Heart Center Studios, a film and video center.
