In The Beginning......
SKYCHIEF (July 2000) was born out of the seemingly non-existent music scene in Akron. Revue magazine quotes, “While SKYCHIEF is rock and roll they also tend to bleed into both punk and even some hard rock circa 1972. The performance is high energy with two raging guitars and pounding drums and bass.”
Playing for 9 consecutive years with minimal time off here and there, stopping only long enough to replace a member or two, or three who moved on to greener pastures.
Their first release "Me Rock You So Hard" (Blimp 2003) found Skychief playing locally and regionally in support of the cd.
July 2009: Skychief has just released their second full length CD "AutoExciter" on Blimp / LoveMuffin Records.
The follow up to their 2003 "Me RockYou So Hard" (Blimp).
Tracks off "AutoExciter" have been played on DIY Radio, 91.3FM WAPS Akron and on Radio 92.3FM "Inner Sanctum" Cleveland, Ohio.
Rough Edge Magazine: "These Akron, Ohio rockers deliver a 13-track slab of steamroller punk here with slamming guitar rhythms that crash through just about anything.." Hallelujah! www.roughedge.com
Buzzbin Magazine: "This upbeat, drum loaded album is one that will have a listener bouncing their head and stomping their feet, maybe even jumping..." www.buzzbinmagazine.com
Clevescene Magazine: "With their second album, Autoexciter, they show no signs of stopping. A straight-ahead punk-rock album, it kicks off with the Blink-182-like "10 Hours," then goes for broke with the guitar-solo-heavy "Upside Down." The band plays with such energy..." www.clevescene.com
AutoExciter is available through lovemuffinrecords.com , itunes, and amazon music.
SKYCHIEF is Taffi (Guitar & Vocals), Disco Steve (Guitar & Vocals), Ric Nimrod (Bass) and last but most definitely not least, Smitty (heavy-hitting drummer). These guys have been around the scene for awhile, playing in such bands as the legendary Albino Tree Frogs, The Nimrods, First Offense and The Rain Dogs.
