Celtic music in general, Kiss, The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Dixie Chicks, Alanis Morissette, Queen and, of course, The Corrs. To name a few, that is!
Childhood friends Marilena Araújo and Vanessa Corradini had been playing the guitar and singing together for a while with little ambition. After playing in a band that leaned towards the Heavy Metal side, they decided to drop the distortion pedals and go in the direction of a light, folksy sound. Because they wanted some Celtic influence in it, their percussionist friend Marcos Reis was asked to join. Still lacking in melodic lines and an instrument that could aid the band with instrumental pieces, Felipe Goulart and his violin were called next. In March 2007, Merrow was born.
Brought together by their love of all good music with Celtic influence, they played covers for some time. A few months went by, and the members decided it was time to create a sound of their own. Smooth drumming, solid guitar playing, accompanying/soloing violin and carefully crafted backing vocals became the main ingredients of their music. Since then, the band have been working primarily with the songs they create, but still bringing a few well-chosen covers to the gigs.
