About Merry & Durkee

We have been playing music together for a couple of years now. We got together to write an album to support Tim's poetry - and it has expanded way beyond that! We are playing gigs, writing more and got some radio play time recently! We play together regularly now, accompanied by Rick Durkee on Congas and Brendon Smith on Djembe. The album, called Everyone Else is Taken, is available online for download or to be shipped as a CD at http://cdbaby.com/cd/merrydurkee . It is an album full of rhyming for a reason and tight groovy music. The music and lyrics are heartfelt responses to being alive in these crazy times on our planet. We want to make music that matters, that starts conversations and stops us all long enough to see clearly for a while. We had an option to record in a Boston studio with a producer and decided instead we wanted to do this with friends. We feel the music that comes from friendship is better than anything any studio could do for us. We hired the best mics and sound equipment in our town and recorded it in our guest room decked out with matresses and blankets. Our friends produced, designed and played with us - all professionals and performers in their own right. We are proud of it and hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.
