Mrs. Naomi Irish my aunt who raised me....she had to be good...she did a great job don't you think.
About me: Who am I you ask........Well let me first give all praises to the one who is in charge of my mere existance "God" without him I can do nothing.
I was born October 11th at Port of Spain General Hospital in the beautiful twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago....yipeee....I AM A BORN AND BRED TRINI... named Grace Joanne Allison Then in 1988 in stepped, Tigress which is how most people know me......and to tell you the truth I do not know what last name to use hhhhhmmmm.....let see Irish (my aunt and uncle who raised me this was there name but it also happens to be my grand mothers maiden name so it also belonged to me) then we have Rowley (this was my real mothers maiden name), so we going in steps the name Fletcher (my first husband Dave 12/23 1989), Green came from my second husband (Kenny 06/14/1997)
As if that was not enough in August of 1998 I was looking through a book of African names and stumbled upon Mersani which suited me well I identified with that name well (african name meaning orphan).....now you know me why do I call myself an orphan because well sad but true I am, I'm not first no ones family list.
I grew up with my aunt uncle I am forever grateful to them but of course I did not belong....and my mother had her own family so I am an outcast to all..one may think I need theraphy trust me I do not need no theraphy I am fine throughout the years I have learned when life gives you lemon make Lemonade, if it gives you flour make Dumplings. Tigress,I named myself in 1988 when I entered the calypso arena......So call me whatever you want I am strong, confident, bold,charismatic,amazon like, spiritual warrior...whew..boy do I have some names so I shall be ....G. Joanne A. Rowley aka Mersani aka Tigress.
Quite a mouthful aint it....ha,ha,ha...so now we got the introduction out of the way.
I am a mother of 3 sons or rather young men the first is Kerron Jerome born 05/05/1977...stop doing Maths to figure out my age if you know me ask I'll tell you if you do it don't matter to you anyways.
Shawn Leo he was born 08/20/1979
and Darrion Dave he was born on 08/29/1984..same day as his father who by the way said this was not his son but now whew....seems he only have 1 child
And I thank God if I should die today I have seen my second generation as I have 2 grand children Kato Leo James born on 11/15/1999 and the only female in my family beside me Kerissa 10/11/ 2003 and if you did not realise it she was born on my birthday...I am good a'int I
My children are my life,my pride and sometimes my jail bait as I sometimes I want to kill them with my bare hands,.....(Well not of late they have sorta matured)..I think or rather hope
So far life has been a rocky nice smooth road for me oh boy did I have my share of ups and downs as I always say Gary Sobers, Viv Richards, Brian Lara have nothing on me in dealing with the curve balls that life has bowled me but I thank God it has never bowled me over......I have really great friends and I thank God for them everyday.
By the way did I mention that I am the firstborn of my mother Ruby Phyllis (deceased 08/27/2000) and I also have 2 brothers and 2 sisters...and 1 neice and well I'll say 2 nephews.
Calypso which I ventured into in 1988 has really turned my life around and has formatted my destiny towards broadening my horizons......So how has it changed my life you ask...well you see in 1988 when I came on the scene I made a name for myself....this is the part when I thank a 2 time Calypso Monarch Morel "Luta" Peters for really encouraging me to get into the ring I did a song from him in 1987 in the La Brea and Point Fortin competitions and won so he said "that is it you are goihng pro" at the time mind you yuh girl was the lead vocalists in a ballromm band (Vin Courtney) thats when I met Vincent a great bass player.....but prior to that I took part in the Calypso Queen show in Skinner Park that time it was held by Lal this indian guy that hosted it thats when I met Karen Eccles, Singing Sandra and Singing Diane they were really the latter two also remebered that. And I also place somewhere 5th ....my name how did I come up with it I wanted to be different did not want the singing this or Lady that so I hunted for something differnt...hhhhmmmmm......a flower nah....an animal yes....so what about a graceful,charming most beautiful animal that have all my favorite colors...A TIGER....and Tada ...Tigress was born...what happened to me for the past couple of years I have never been arrested, police never had to lay hands onme like I aways say...I was never even in a relationship with a policeman...but lets recap...Three kids, no drugs, and independent not bad for someone who did not have much to work with.
So the saga goes on I thank God daily through music I have travelled extensively ...but I sorta took a back seat as amidst all the glitz and glamour there is no pension in Calypso so I have a regular 9-4, 9-5 call it whatever shift you want..okay so we jump for a bit to 2007 A milestone for me when I was given a Proclamation by the City of New York for my work in the Community in a gala ceremony at City Hall...Yipee...so I moved to Philadelphia, nice...3yrs then in comes Orlando FL..at present I am working hard with the Orlando Carnival Association on Carnival 2k9TO BE CONTINUED

Well, well the madness is finally over...Due to recently moving to Orlando Florida I was unable to go home to perform for this carnival due to a new job that I aint messing up at al..Carnival is going nowhere.
Apart from that I am fine..got some bad news a really good friend passed away may his soul rest in peace...Love you Norvan.
But I am fine God is Blessing me like I always say I am Favored and Flavored with Gods Blessings.
My grandaughter is the only person who really missed my coming for carnival as she was not in attendance at Kiddies Carnival...Gods willing next year baby.
To my kaiso fraternity family missed you all Singing Sandra, Marvellous Marva, Dee Diamond, Eunice Peters my batch kasio sister Bianca Hull, the management and staff of Icons Calypso Tent esp the band & the chorus.To my band Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars thx for lovely music again to Phase 2 Bro. Boogsie thx for the sweet music congrats but All Stars is mih band..ent Dane & Clive...to NLCB Fonclaire yuh have 3yrs to go still ent Darren...till SMOKE...nada,,zero zilch..no I am not a witch!
