  • Bio

Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitarist and Guitar Synthesist Merv Collins. I've been playing guitar for over 4 decades and am deeply into the world of fingerstyle guitar and a bit of guitar synthesis. I have 3 CDs out , my most recently released album, titled "Fingers & Strings" came out on March 11, 2011 to go with my previously released CDs, "Bits & Pieces" which was released in 2006, and "True to the Music which came out in 2008, all of which I'm quite proud of. Next, hopefully I'll finally complete my long promised CD of Christmas music too. I've been performing around the Chicago area since moving here in September 2005 and am always on the lookout for new venues to play, so if you know of some good places, please let me know. Please write me and lets exchange musicial and creative ideas and such. If you'd be interested in a copy of my CDs, They're only $10 and I always have some with me at my performances, or email me at merv43_99@yahoo.com.

Please check out my new website www.mervcollinsmusic.com Just me, and my Taylor 714ce acoustic electric guitar. I also have a Composite Acoustic 5 IM-CE as my backup guitar to the Taylor. For classical pieces (and when my fingers get sore, heheheh) I play my newly acquired Taylor NS54CE nylon stringed guitar. I also dabble with my Godin XTSA synth guitar, hooked into the Roland GR30 guitar synthesizer and also enjoy playing a marvelous sounding Weissenborn lap steel guitar as well as a very pretty Cordoba mahogony Tenor Ukulele, also learning to play my new Wechter Scheerhorn square neck Dobro.. which is a lot of fun too. I'm also part of a great fun duo going by the name "Guyz with Bad Eyez", my buddy Don Humbertson, 12 string picker and singer extraordinaire, the Maestro as I refer to him and me, play a lot of folk and country and good pickin songs and play around town quite a bit too. I do enjoy also getting into jam sessions with various other musicians from time to time which is a lot of fun as I'm a "lead" guitarist by nature too.
