Interests

  • General

Politics, video games, bowling, martial arts, diving, philosophy, poetry, technology, current events, talking about random things (same as philosophy?), cartoons, gymnastics. Hiking around in the forest, chilling at the beach, rock climbing......damn, I can't even think of all the things that pique my interest, but feel free to ask. In fact, I think you should send me a message.........

    ........NOW
  • Music

Anything except the majority of country/western and gangsta rap. Very appreciative of good acoustic stuff, good techno (and its numerous sub-genres), and good hip hop (Dead Prez, Blackalicious, etc). Overall though, if I haven't heard it, I'll give it an honest listen. Ozomatli, Moxy Fruvis, Flogging Molly, NoFX (yeah, yeah, shhh:P), Primus (Les Claypool is an incredible bassist), Woven, If, Ani DiFranco (good acoustic, plus....crap, who am I kidding, I dig her music, lol), Tool, Pantera, Metallica, Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Offspring (I like their older stuff better though)...I'll add more later. ..
  • Movies

The Princess Bride, Space Balls, Sneakers, Star Wars: Episodes 4-6, The Motorcycle Diaries, Robots, Finding Nemo, Mansfield Park (goddamnit, I laughed, piss off :P), Clue (if you haven't seen it, rent the DVD), Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Disney Movies, Finding Neverland, Big Fish, All About Bob, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2, Pulp Fiction...oh geez, I like Tarentino's movies, psychological thrillers, and just about anything with witty dialog.
  • Television

Simpsons, Family Guy, the Daily Show, CNN, Futurama, Sea Lab, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Naruto, Trigun, Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, and am cultivating my current desire to watch more anime. After all, how can anybody NOT like cartoons? Oh....so, other than cartoon network, you'll probably find me watching CNN or reading news online.
  • Books

Brave New World, Siddharta, 1984, The Old Man of the Sea, Dune, The Prince, Tyranny of Kindness, Gulliver's Travels, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings series.
  • Heroes

This will sound cheesy, but.....Gandhi and Martin Luther King for being individuals who effected change peacefully through the strength of their convictions.

Who I'd like to meet:

People who are not so sucked into their own little worlds that they are unable to see everything else around them. People who understand that we need to fight for the world we live in and recognize the massive amount of work that needs to be done, but who are also able to see and appreciate the small things that act like bright beacons in that world. Despite all the bad things they see around them, they can still recognize those moments of true beauty and goodness that we each experience. I guess I'm interested in people who can appreciate the small and the simple, but still keep a grip on the grandiose. Likewise, as far as the females go, I don't want a rescue mission. I'm looking for a companion, not a codependent.
