Machin s’est exilé en 1992 à Paris puis à Berlin où il a habité pendant près de 12 ans et où il a travaillé pour plusieurs studios de dessin animé en tant que dessinateur. Il a alors exploré à peu près toute l’Europe de l’est et s’est tout particulièrement intéressé aux musiques russes, tsiganes et klezmers. A Berlin, il monte un groupe de jazz avec lequel il interprète les chansons de Serge Gainsbourg puis quitte Berlin en 2003 pour suivre le mouvement mondial de la délocalisation du travail pour aller superviser des séries télévisées animées, d’abord en Ukraine puis en Corée et en Chine où il habite pendant 3 ans pour revenir à Montréal à la fin de 2006. Influencé à la fois par ses années passées à Berlin, l’un des pôles de la musique émergente et par la chanson française, il oscille entre les deux univers avec l’aide de ses machines qu’il a fini par adopter constatant qu’il doit renoncer à transporter un pianiste, un trompettiste et un contre bassiste dans ses valises pour ses multiples périples à l’étranger. Il découvre alors dans ses nombreuses chambres d’hôtel et nombreux appartements de Shanghai à Hong Kong qu’il peut non seulement continuer de chanter mais aussi composer ses propres chansons à l'aide de son ordinateur portable. En voulant renouer avec le monde slave, il fait la rencontre sur la toile d’une chanteuse à la voix céleste du nom d’Olga Zaric d’origine serbe installée à Montréal depuis 3 ans. Ils collaborent ensemble sur deux chansons par l’intermédiaire de l’internet sans jamais s’être rencontrés physiquement. Machin est un auteur-compositeur-interprète autodidacte et a une formation en arts visuels et en graphisme. Le nom de son projet musical lui est venu de la chanson de Serge Gainsbourg; « Avec machin et toi machine » Olga Zaric, née à Novi Sad (ex-Yougoslavie) a fait ses études en langue et littérature françaises et fait du chant choral depuis l’âge de 15 ans. Influencée principalement par la musique ancienne et par les chants populaires serbes et macédoniens, elle cherche la beauté archétypale à travers ses improvisations vocales. Machin et ses machines or Machin (a guy) et (with) ses (his) machines Sounds better in french uh? Machin is born in the Montreal Republic of North America. He went to a 15 years exile in 1992 first in Paris and then in Berlin where he worked in the animation business. Then he followed the globalization phenomenon 8 years ago and went to Ukraine, Korea and China several times in order to supervise around 10 animated tv shows. Now he lives in Montreal waiting for his next supervision and try to kill time with music and is collaborating with an interactive and imaginary friend Olga Zaric from Novi Sad (former Yougoslavia) who lives also in Montreal but whom he never met in reality. They work with file exchanges on the web. He was a singer in many groups (new wave, jazz and so on...) and then he started to compose with his machines around the year 2000. Machin is also a painter, a graphic designer, a chair designer, an illustrator, an animator, a sound designer, a sculptor. a photographer and a writer. He speaks French, English and German
