Generali'm fond of both lower-case letters and punctuation -- and don't even get me started on ampersands!

and i'm often up there on the cyper-expressway, too.
Musicif i was stuck on the proverbial desert island and could only listen to one band, it would have to be the melvins. if, however, i were limited to only one cd, it'd be a toss-up b/w ænima and dark side of the moon. regardless, i'd find myself longingly scribbling these names in the sand: frank, claypool, mccrea, cessna, jourgensen, reznor, de la rocha, tankian, homme, dalle, dylan, harvey, holiday, monk, et al i'm sure....this is of course assuming i'm unable to utilize my knowledge of circuts and gilligan's island to jimmy-rig together a radio out of my cd-player and coconut shells.

About me:
many persons fear snakes. but this fact only makes snakes more interesting to persons who have either never had this fear or who have overcome it....the snake is deaf to sound carried by air. it hears by sensing vibrations from the ground. a snake's eyes are protected by a transparent cap that is shed with the skin. this cap keeps a snake's eyes always open, which makes it difficult to prove scientifically that a snake sleeps. a snake's tongue is long, slender, and forked. the popular belief that a snake can sting with its tongue is untrue. actually, the tongue is harmless. a snake keeps flicking out its tongue while moving along the ground, because it is the snake's organ of touch....the snake has a backbone...a very long chain of as many as 300 bones, or vertebrae. a man has only 33 or 34 vertebrae. with this long string of bones, the snake can crawl, climb, and swim. the snake can bend easily because it has so many joints....it is hard for a snake to crawl on a smooth, flat surface. each curve of its body must have something to push against. when the curves all push at the right time, the snake can crawl with a beautiful motion. when it moves, it does not raise its body off the gound, but only bends it from side to side. snakes are cold-blooded, like all other animals except mammals and birds. this is the reason why they feel cool to the touch. a man's body is always warm, but a snake's body is always about the same temperature as its surroundings. a snake taking a sun bath feels warm because its body takes up the heat. snakes and men can stand about the same degree of fever. but a snake can stand much greater chill. it does not die until its temperature goes below the freezing point....it is not unusual to find almost perfect snakeskins in rocky or bushy places. snakes grow a complete new skin several times a year. they slip out of the old one, turning it inside out, and leave it behind....[a snake] must swallow its food whole because its teeth are sharp like needles, and not good for chewing....the bones of a snake's lower jaw are loosely connected to each other and to the skull. the snake can separate them and swallow an animal two or three times as thick as its head. its powerful stomach juices then digest all the animal except feathers and hairs. a healthy snake can do without food for a year or more. but a snake usually eats regularly and often....the young snake can take care of themselves. they can live without food for months if they have to....in most cases there is little reason to fear snakes....only about 8 out of 100 are poisonous snakes. some snakes are helpful. they kill many rats, mice, and other rodents that destroy crops.

-- snake, from the 1976 world book encyclopedia, proving that curiousity and knowledge are their own best answers to apathy and fear, and that science writes the best metaphors

After last night's lecture, someone commented to me that I must be an army brat because I had such fantastic teeth. Such teeth, he said, could only be the result of good breeding and access to the finest dental care. I explained that though I descend from a long line of Bulgarian nobility, when I was a boy people were still having infected teeth removed by a donkey tied to a rope. Happenstance, I explained to him, is the main reason behind Mustafio's distinguished countenance.
