ME: Can't summarize myself in a
paragraph..... I'm a Mother, Singer, Woman, & Saver of the World (not that the world needs saving in itself - just as a human habitat!), and returning Karaoke DJ! I know there's so much more to Life than people allow themselves to realize, and I'm thankful to be in a place in my personal growth to really feel & see the bigness of it all. I'm philosophical, spiritual, and open, though I do get my buttons pushed by those who are NOT open to there being more than one way to do anything. I lead and follow, and try as hard as possible to walk my path with my eyes open - no matter how scary it looks sometimes! Ishmael by Daniel Quinn changed my life, and my view of me in the world - I recommend the entire trilogy [Ishmael, The Story of B, and My Ishmael] to all, especially The Story of B! I focus on moving toward community, integrity, honesty, and lots of fun and expression along the way. Being a parent is hard and wonderful, and I wouldn't give it up for the world - I love my 3 wonderful boys, now 9, 8 & 4. Got married for the 2nd time in August '06, and it has been a blessing in so many ways - I really feel like I have it all! With all the Love I have in my life, I know I'm here to spread it around as much as possible - so I do end up putting a lot of effort into creating awareness of all the insanity that we all just.... put up with - or worse yet, deny exists. I'm currently studying to be a licensed Spiritual Practitioner at Portland Center for Spiritual Living (as well as being the President of the board of directors) so I can witness people (and myself!) release old beliefs that no longer serve them. I am just starting my final year, and will be licensed in Aug '09. I also have been volunteering for over 2 years for an organization that - to me - is the best blend of creating a new world and knowing the inner Truth; spirituality: Commonway Institute . I highly respect Sharif Abdullah, and also recommend his greatest written work, Creating a World That Works For All.
Unfortunately, most people aren't aware of all the harmful damage companies like Starbucks, Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft (also Planters, Snapple, Nabisco), and many others do to humans, our economy, and - most importantly - to the very planet which gives us air to breath (that's why I've boycotted all the above and more for over 5 years now). If you want to know more, look for yourself or ask me, I'll point you in the direction of information, not just opinions. Every day we pay money that we have earned, and in exchange, we get products that harm our bodies, our children, and our planet. If we want to change the world, we have to do it with changed minds, action, and money! If we want to take power away from large corporations, we must stop giving them our hard-earned cash EVERY DAY! I encourage all to be aware of where your money goes, and what you're are actually putting into your bodies and your homes. If you want to know about formaldehyde in your toothpaste, let me know - or just look at the ingredients list on your Crest tube (though first you have to look up the dozen different names for it)! I think more people need to be talking MORE about primary cell perception and Yes! Magazine and Quantam Physics and Spirituality and harmful chemicals and environmental devastation and fair trade and overpopulation and totalitarian agricultural practices (the last two go hand-in-hand) and genetically modified foods (which are in EVERYTHING) and extinction of species (over 100 EVERY DAY) and clean energy and peak oil and net neutrality and LESS about religion and politics and bling and getting ass and getting trashed every night and spending all our money on things that we think will fulfill us and traveling the world for pleasure and porn and Bush and - dare I say it? - the presidential election (sorry, but if the government could change the world, it would have done it in the 60's when people went out of their way to say they wanted it so - a president is a puppet, and we're not having a new hand race). I think consciousness is changing, and we can all be a part of that by choosing what we talk about, think about, and DO - every day. I create every day - you can, too!
Oh, and all you local Portland People who have been waiting for me to do a DJ/KJ come back, keep on waiting! I'll keep ya posted if I find anything. Don't forget I sing in the Friend's Gospel Choir every 4th Sunday at Portland Center for Spiritual Living. It is a lot of fun! Plus, don't forget to check out my own personal music and let me know what you think. :)
Who I'd like to meet: People. People who aren't into the 'getting-rich-because-that's-what-we're-here-to-do' mentality. People who aren't afraid to be real, and talk of the wonderful, beautiful, terrible things which are Life. People who want more and aren't afraid to look for it. People who are trying to learn more about themselves every day. People who are out there DOing something - something different, and useful. People who want the world to work for all creatures, not just SOME people. People who want Life. I want Life with People.
You scored as Satanism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Satanism! Before you scream, do a bit of research on it. To be a Satanist, you don't actually have to believe in Satan. Satanism generally focuses upon the spiritual advancement of the self, rather than upon submission to a deity or a set of moral codes. Do some research if you immediately think of the satanic cult stereotype. Your beliefs may also resemble those of earth-based religions such as paganism.

When the thoughts are stilled. The thoughts we have confused as ourselves with for so long. Then in that silence, in that limitless space, we see that not only are we perfectly loved- we are perfectly Love.
"After
a while you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
and company isn't security.
(Kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises.)
After awhile you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes open,
with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain
and the inevitable has a way of crumbling in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns
if you stand too long in one place.
So, you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone else to bring you flowers.
And you learn you really can endure,
that you really do have worth.
You learn that with every good-bye comes the dawn."

Yeah! That would be great! Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm is the Homegrown Parents Night Out at my house and you're totally welcome to come to that. It's a nice break to hang out with other homeschool parents without the kids running in and around our conversations! Thursday would work well for us if that works well for you.
Hey, thanks for the comments. Drop us a line when you want to hang out sometime. You're welcome at our home anytime or we could meet at a park or something.
