Metalfans is a new website coming soon that hopes to give the fans a very different heavy metal website. While we will have the usual metal staple of news, reviews and interviews, the majority of the content will not come from us but from the fans and from the bands. All we will do is moderate the content to make sure you're not posting pictures of Des Lynam naked (urgh).
We want to be able to give the fans metal information thats relevant to THEM. So we give them the power to filter the news for just the bands they're interested in, to view upcoming tourdates for venues near them, to receive email alerts for any new announcements about bands theyre interested in and to most importantly we think, discover new bands based on their friends interests and the bands theyre currently listening to!
It's kinda like mySpace in a way but without the pictures of 14 year old girls trying to look 18 or the big competition to see who has the most friends and is therefore most popular.... OK thinking about it again, it's nothing like mySpace but still you CAN be involved in this metal revolution.
We're keeping a lot of information under wraps for now as we don't want people stealing our ideas before we can get them online but if you want to be involved in this project - be you metal fan or metal band - as soon as it starts then add me to your friends list (I promise I won't boast when I have more friends than you) and we'll send out a bulletin when we have more information to share. Subscribe to our blog as well because the bulletins are a bit shit if you have 15,000 friends (is that all you got?) and they all post bulletins on the same day. We'll duplicate the information there.
Please only add me to your friends list if you're a heavy metal band or a heavy metal fan! I've no time for people who are using this site as a popularity contest
