METALMORPHOSIS is the brainchild of MISSION UK/TRICKY/PETER MURPHY/MOB RESEARCH guitarist MARK GEMINI THWAITE. MGT initially undertook a personal project to take 80's synth hits by The Eurythmics, Soft Cell, Human League, Visage, Depeche Mode, Dead or Alive etc and add hard rock guitars, rock drums etc to beef them up.
The main remit was to pick recordings that have little or no guitar on the original version. MGT used to play along to albums like 'Dare' by the Human League when he first started playing guitar as a teenager, as there were no guitars on the album at all, so he could make up his own riffs… when MGT first installed Logic Audio Platinum digital audio software on his studio PC a friend suggested that he try recording the guitars he used to make up as a way to get familiar with the program.
MGT found that once the new guitars were mixed into the original mix the 80's rhythm section would sound weedy so he would apply rock drum loops and record additional bass where necessary to bolster up the original track.
MGT continued to apply this approach to newer artists, most recently COMBICHRIST and AND ONE. MGT was also commissioned my GARY NUMAN to create new versions of 'ARE FRIENDS ELECTRIC?' and 'THIS WRECKAGE' for Numans 2003 'HYBRID' release. MGT was also approached by Nin?HIM producer JOHN FRYER to create a brand new metalmorphosis remix on 'Goth girls give good head' for NYC electropunks LICKY for their debut record in 2004.
MGT also makes special guest DJ appearances - most recently at CLUB ANTICHRIST in London - where he will spin his own exclusive remixes which have never been commercially released. For more info check out WWW.MARKTHWAITE.COM

MOB RULES: MOB RESEARCH 'HOLY CITY ZOO' CD RELEASED 22 MAY...
The highly anticipated Mob Research album 'Holy City Zoo' will be released on Echozone records in Europe and Code7 in the UK on 22 May. A US release will be announced soon. The band - featuring the late Paul Raven (Killing Joke/Ministry/Prong) on bass, Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission/Tricky/Peter Murphy) on guitars, Kory Clarke (Warrior Soul/Trouble) on vocals and Nick Lucero (ex-Queens of The Stone Age/Peter Murphy) on drums - have also lauched their official website at www. mobresearchinc. com.
Mob Research is the bastard offspring of Raven and Thwaite. Both born and bred in the Midlands UK, the pair first jammed together back in 1989 then went their separate ways, crossing paths occasionally over the years before reuniting in Los Angeles in spring 2007 to collaborate on Mob Research. Sadly Paul Raven passed away in his sleep in late 2007 at age 46 from a suspected heart attack, leaving MGT and Kory Clarke to complete vocals and overdubs on 10 songs.
"Holy City Zoo' was executive produced by Thwaite and Tim Palmer (H.I.M/Pearl Jam/Ozzy Osbourne) with additional mixing by Hilton Thiessen/Maor Appelbaum and features 10 new songs featuring Raven/Thwaite/Clarke/Lucero plus 7 bonus remixes by SiNDADDY, Elektrofish, DJ Rob (Sanctuary Radio), Artemis and Metalmorphosis.
Check out the March issue of METAL HAMMER magazine (UK) for a featurette and Q&A with the band... plus click below for interview with Mark Thwaite shot at Matt Sorum's (Velvet Revolver) Holywood studio where MarkGT talks with Protone about the forthcoming Mob Research album.. http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=CgPr7KZDe0E
