ABOUT ME:
For years, I have had a creative outlet of some kind. I started in high school home-ec class with a basic purse and I was hooked. I sewed a lot of different projects (clothing, home decor, accessories, etc) over the years, branching out with various crafts projects now and then.
I became a graphic designer/art director by day but have always had some sort of creative project brewing on the side. From hand made cards to fabric covered frames and photo albums, to life-size personalized baby dolls. But I really got bit when I took a jewelry class at the local art guild several years ago. Since then I’ve been building my workshop and experimenting and working on my jewelry making skills.
metalME™ - jewelry with a cause will consist of several lines of jewelry, with 10% of sales from that line going to a related cause.
When I finally decided to start selling my jewelry, I wanted it to be more than just a way to 'support my habit' of making fun jewelry. I wanted to connect it to a worthy cause. Since I have so many worthy causes that I feel passionate about, I will have several different lines connected to a different cause. So people can choose a cause to support and get a fun piece of jewelry at the same time.
Some of the future lines of jewelry - and causes - will be a peace theme benefiting different worthy causes primarily in the United States, like The American Red Cross, Hurricane katrina victims, Habitat for Humanity, etc). Also planned, Anti-Domestic Violence and Spiritual, Christian causes. And hopefully many more to come.
