Taking their name from a song by Izzy Stradlin (former Guns N’ Roses guitarist), METHANOL was formed in the fall of 2004 by singer/guitarist Seth Martino and bassist Joey G. After many jam sessions at a local open mic night, the duo added Whyte Myke on rhythm guitar, and Pete Dixon on drums.
Officially located in Rochester, NY, METHANOL is hitting the streets with their brash in-your-face style of rock ‘n’ roll, and leaving audiences amazed! “METHANOL is a fantastic hard rock band,” exclaims Frank DeBlase of The Buzz (98.9 FM)! Their happy medium between punk and heavy metal has earned them comparisons to bands like Guns N' Roses and Alice in Chains. “METHANOL’s slick, attitude-infused rock ‘n’ roll can’t help but take you back to the 1980s rock scene and contemporary bands influenced by that sound, such as Velvet Revolver or Queens of the Stone Age,” says Troy Smith of the Rochester “Insider.”
The band enjoys weekly spins on local radio stations, The Buzz (98.9 FM), The Zone (94.1 FM) and WBER (90.5 FM). METHANOL has also had a feature article in the Rochester paper “Insider,” along with mentions in “City” newspaper.
In addition to local press, the band has shared the stage with such artists as WEDNESDAY 13 and also ranked third in the second round of the ‘Bodog Battle of the Bands’ in New York City. Their high-energy live performances have enticed indie label artists’ ZO2 to perform in Rochester with METHANOL opening the show.
