They released a follow up Seaside Rock, which was vinyl and digital only, in 2008.

Their current album, Living Thing, was released earlier this year steadily climbed the charts and received lots of praise from critics around the globe, and led to more appearances for the band, including a slot at Lollapalooza this summer. Fresh Air Tour...
BROTHER ALI
EVIDENCE>
TOKI WRIGHT
BK ONE
Tickets: $15
18 & over
Doors: 8pm / Show: 9pm
Brother Ali is the personification of the saying "Never judge a book by its cover." Born Jason Newman, Ali is an albino Muslim hip-hop artist from Minneapolis. If, somehow, you're not intrigued yet, check out Brother Ali's lyrics. Songs such as "Uncle Sam Goddamn" create the kind of controversy that forces people to listen. And indeed, people are listening: In 2007, Brother Ali was named one of Rolling Stone magazine's "New Artists to Watch." That same year, Ali performed on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Late Night With Conan O'Brien.

With Ali's politically charged words over the beats of producer Ant, Brother Ali's album "The Undisputed Truth" won over fans and critics alike and silenced the skeptics. "Us," Ali's full-length follow-up to "The Undisputed Truth," was released in September of this year by indie hip-hop label Rhymesayers. In support of the release, Brother Ali is currently taking the country by storm on his Fresh Air Tour, where he is joined by fellow Rhymesayers artists Evidence, BK-One, and Toki Wright. All four Rhymesayers will bring Fresh Air to the Windy City on Wednesday, November 18, when the Fresh Air Tour comes to Metro. The show is 18 & over and begins at 9 pm. Tickets are available now for $15.
JULIAN PLENTI (aka Paul Banks of Interpol)

JULIAN PLENTI (aka Paul Banks of Interpol)
I'M IN YOU
Tickets: $16
All Ages
Doors: 6:30pm / Show: 7:30pm
Julian Plenti, who will make his Chicago debut on the Metro stage Saturday November 21, might look a little familiar to you, like maybe you've seen him before? Chances are, you have, because Julian Plenti is the alter ego / solo project of Paul Banks, lead singer of Interpol. A talented man like Banks can't be held into just one personality, so after the success of Interpol, he's decided to work on some long simmering solo material under the moniker of Julian Plenti. For several years, using the music production software Logic Pro, he's composed with multiple instruments, making music with an orchestral palate using the technology.

Refurbishing earlier songs with beats and string arrangements, the idea for a solo album was sparked. In the fall of 2008, he recorded Julian Plenti Is A Skyscraper at Seaside Lounge Studio in Brooklyn, working with his college classmate, engineer Charles Burst. Other friends, including Mike Stroud of Ratatat, Sam Fogarino of Interpol and Striker Manley of Stiff Jesus guested on the album as well. It was released in August, and Julian Plenti is currently making his “debut tour” around the United States. Come see the talented musician who cannot be bound by just one personality on November 21. Tickets are $16. The show is all ages and starts at 7:30pm.
NEW YEARS EVE with the JESUS LIZARD

New Years Eve 2009-2010...
THE JESUS LIZARD
DISAPPEARS
Tickets: $51 adv / $61 day of
18 & over
Doors: 9pm / Show: 10pm
Metro is pleased to announce that The Jesus Lizard will play New Year’s Eve 2009. Into the void and vortex of the year 1989 stepped the Jesus Lizard, a largely unknown and not easily categorized quantity who would, in time, do their best to represent, for better and for worse, the full breadth of the American experience in the early 90s. These four artists would release four full-length albums for Touch and Go Records over a four year period, roughly, give or take, each with a four letter title, that stand today as some of the most original, compelling, and visceral rock music ever recorded. After signing to Capitol Records in 1995, they released Shot in 1996, and Blue in 1998, before breaking up in 1999.

This year, the original lineup of David Yow, Duane Denison, David Wm Sims and Mac McNeilly reunited for a series of shows with the original lineup, including the Pitchfork Music Festival and All Tomorrows Parties festivals in London and New York. All five Touch and Go era albums were remastered and reissued by the label on October 6, 2009, with re-released with expanded packaging and bonus tracks. Now, the band caps off a remarkable year with a New Year’s Eve show in the town where they first recorded their music, Chicago. The Jesus Lizard is one of the most intense and visceral live bands to ever destroy a stage, and this reunion offers a rare chance to once again be blown away by the energy, sweat, and sheer power the band is capable of producing. Tickets are $51 in advance and $61 day of show. Disappears will open. The show is 18 & over. Doors are at 9pm and the show starts at 10pm.
