From the streets of Boston came these 4 talented young men with ages ranging from 21 to 23. They came together 7 years ago. When Jy and Rey decided to put together a local group called 617. They later recruited 2Key who they both knew from another local act that he had been in, and later came Cyrus who they met at the Apollo Theatre in New Your City. 617 was known for doing a lot of shows through out the Boston area including events such as the Annual Mayors Youth Summit, Veteran's Day and performing the Star Spangled Banner at the State House. All of these performances resulted in a large fan base from young to old, that later resulted in promotors wanting to book the group to open up for acts such as Donnell Jones, The Temptations, and Dru Hill. To the group's surprise in one of their showcases a city offical presented 617 with an appreciation award for participating in shows for the city. A second award which was presented granted them a day in Boston, known as 617 day on June 24th. The end of the name 617 came when the group was introduced to the CEO of 55 Entertainment, a production label owned by Willie McGinest of the New Englad Patriots.They entered the guys in a 1 year agreement in which they were going to be helped to create a demo. A year later they entered into a major distribution deal with A&M/Interscope Records.
To 617 this was a new beginning that they believed called for a new name. They wanted to still represent the city of Boston and that's how the name metro City Came about. Within the name Metro City has a special meaning, Making Effort To Realize Opportunity as young Black Men in the City. The music of Metro city represents struggle, love, passion and the streets from which they come from, they are known for their edgy street image, their raw and soulful acapella vocals that can impress audiences all around the world. Metro City has worked with various producers such as Kayne west, The Rza, Sean Garrett, Chink Santana, Static from the R&B group Playa, and Sean Stockman from the legendary group Boyz II Men.
Their album is in progress and features The Game,Ying Yang Twins, and Keyshia Cole, their album is due for release in January. Metro City is sure to have the girls going crazy and the guys wishing they could sing. They are sure to be a house hold name that can be sold 20 years from now and will still be around because of the love and mutual respect for music and each other.................
