The band started out as a project originally in February 2007, when guitarists Lee - aka - Billy, and Pete' started jamming together just for the fun of it, making new tunes and some work under the name of "The D:RR Project". After Billy finished off other projects, and the main band he had, it turned out that the project needed to change tracks. The project was out looking for a drummer.
Nothing really happened before mid-June of that same year, until Billy met old school friend Mauro a.k.a 'The Drumming Machine' where he was wearing a band t-shirt that Billy was into. It led Billy to phone Mauro the day after to try out with him and Pete'. The project were out again looking for a singer and bass guitarist. At this time, the project decided to change it's name into something more 'concrete', the name that came up was 'Metro-queen', they suggested to change it into 'metrökueen'. After putting up ads everywhere on the internet, Billy came across Shawn's Hi5 profile in September, where he heard some samples of his work. Billy contacted Shawn, and asked him up for an audition. Shawn blended in easily with the band, and so they started working on some serious work, both of which were cover and original.
metrokueen tried out different bass guitarists in the process, and one bass guitarist came across. After the band decided to enter a battle of the bands TV competition, the bass guitarist left the band, since he and the band never had chemistry together whatsoever. Bass guitarist "cikku" who played in a past band of Billy's, joined the band to fill in the place for that one off show (RockBaze). Metrokueen came out live for the very first time on this show, and won 3rd prize from the jury, and 2nd place from televoting. After the show, the band had another event.. this time a full gig setlist, that's when the band needed another bass guitarist to learn all the originals and covers for just one night, this is were James 'Jelly' came in. After the night was over, he announced to the band, that he would join the band only if they wanted to, and so the band.. without any doubt accepted Jelly's offer and welcomed Jelly in the band.
In May 2008, the band had another direction.. and so they parted ways with their vocalist, and the bassist. The new lineup of the band will be official soon!
The band is now set to work on some new material, which might be handy for a future album and aiming for a new stable setlist. The band came out with a new different image lately, and clearly showed they that they work on other points too besides just music.
