Mette Riis Koefoed is a danish singer/songwriter based in London. Her distinct voice, powerful lyrics and stark arrangements sit comfortable alongside the likes of Tori Amos and Dido, and can regulary be heard at open mics around London.
Mette grew up on the island of Bornholm, isolated from the mainland. In her childhood she listened to many of the top female mainstream vocalists such as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. Since then her musical taste has developed into a more singular direction. Amongst her influences are Danish singer/songwriters Tina Dico and Randi Laubek as well as Imogen Heap and Siobhan Donaghy.
Mette's semi confessional and evocative lyrics, together with her pure yet intense vocals are offset by a sparse instrumental accompaniment of acoustic guitar and piano.
