Sounds Like
Covers - like any of the above plus a whole load more...
Our own? - a mix of the immediate and the long ride while of course retaining a certain Englishnessness to it all.......
Mew and Wooster first became aware of each others musical bent one dark and windswept night some two years ago at their local tavern, where they performed individually for an open-mic night. Was it fate that brought their paths together that evening? Was it an alignment of the heavens coupled with a conjunction of ley-lines that would produce a force so powerful that the resulting schism could tear a hole in the very fabric of the space/time/music continuum? Or was it more to do with the fact that their wives had met and chatted at toddler group?: ‘My husband sings and plays guitar’…’Really? So does mine….’
And so it came to pass…..with their respective band projects boiling nicely (The Benbows/Watt4), Mew and Wooster joined forces to find a third way - their five year mission: to seek out those places and people as yet untouched by the concept of ‘modern acoustic’: Ohhh yes... to comfort and embrace with the sound of familiar songs yet surprise and enrapture with glorious self-penned tunes of love, life and the universe. Oh, and to get lagered-up occasionally.
As the partnership enters it’s third year, perhaps it is the time for the third way…watch this (my)space……..
