Influences
Punk and indie-rock has influenced us all the way through, ranging from the Beatles to the The Sex Pistols, Nirvana right the way through to Oasis and Blur.
Our band is a combination of these styles of music, taking elements of each style and turning it into something new.
Mexico Indigo are a British Rock group from London, composed of Stuart Gullock (vocals, guitar), Matt Kingston (bass, vocals) and Phil Kingston (drums, percussion). The band's sound is characterised by a heavy, thrashy melodic mixture of overdriven guitars, bass and drums with "screamer" vocals by Stuart Gullock, backed by bassist Matt Kingston.
They have a series of stories as to how the band came up with the name Mexico Indigo. The band have stated the name came from a "seriously intoxicating" cocktail drink they drank at a house party that had an instant impact on all your senses and agreed their music had the same impact on their audiences so adopted the name as their own. Other stories that have been dotted around on the internet include a last minute trip to Mexico playing a few clubs and bars and sleeping on the beach, meeting an exotic dancer called Indigo. Admittedly the band have made a few stories up to get the question out of the way, wanting to focus more on answering questions about the music - or maybe its because they couldn't remember 'cause of the cocktails?

History
The first manifestation of what would eventually be Mexico Indigo was formed in 2000 by young, ambitious teenagers Phil and Stuart, who soon realised they had talent in their midst in the form of an older brother, Matt. After a few years of jamming and playing covers they teamed up with a couple of other guys calling themselves The Portrait. At the time the band were finding their feet, generally sounding like a messy crossbreed of 90's Britpop and Grunge. The band called time, cut the band in half (to its current form) and spent the next couple of years scrapping the old set and started to write and rehearse what would become the new "thrashy melodica" sound we all hear today.

On 21 May 2008, they played their first gig under the name Mexico Indigo at the Bull & Gate in Kentish town. After playing many gigs in and around London and receiving enthusiastic reactions from the audiences the band decided get a few songs on record. In the summer of 2008 the band booked a couple of days in a rehearsal room in Woking in Surrey armed with a portable recorder – this recording session formed the backbone of what is now the Screaming Dirty Faces E.P which was soon put on Myspace and Last FM as a free download. The Screaming Dirty Faces E.P created a whirlwind for the band after being well received by various internet radio stations and local radio station alike. Compared with previous (now dropped) recordings the E.P is the bands heaviest and most melodic recording to date. Mexico Indigo was recently interviewed on internet radio station KOBY where Matt said the band are going to carry on recording and adding to the E.P and they are currently recording a new live favourite (working title-“the jam”) which is the bands “heaviest and softest tune yet” - “The song will be finished in the summer and we are planning to release it on iTunes independently, we want everyone to have this song, they’re gonna love it.”

Musical Influences
The bands influences are diverse in genre, which probably explains the mix of melody and aggression heard in their music ranging from heavy metal gods like Metallica and System of a Down, Grunge legends Nirvana, Britpop royals Oasis, blur and Manics and more importantly Punk luminaries like the Sex Pistols and The Clash. While many people often link their sound to the likes of the Libertines and Babyshambles — it potentially could be the plumb line, but with Sex Pistols aggression and a Gallagher attitude.
