Me&You is a project from TM Juke and Robert Luis. A couple of years ago they got together to do a one-off track to play in our DJ sets but then TM Juke got involved in producing and co-writing Alice Russell’s album and working on his solo album and Robert Luis got busy with his day job (A&R and co-owner of Tru Thoughts). They were invited to DJ at the Bestival event in the UK and decided to get together again to record a few specials for their DJ sets: these tracks where a Calypso influenced Drum and Bass track called Last Night and the Brazilian Batucada madness of Ze Zam. The reaction to them at the festival was amazing and they both got lots of positive feedback and enquiries about the tracks through the Tru Thoughts website and MySpace afterwards. As they had enjoyed recording these dancefloor tracks they decided to record an album together. They did not want to be restricted by genres and decided to record music that reflected their DJ sets and what they felt other DJ’s and clubbers would enjoy dancing too as well.
The first single release was a limited run of 1000 copies worldwide of the 7” with ‘The Hoop Loop’ and ‘Brown Paper Bag’ (now sold out)
The second single was 'Last Night (Benny Page Remix)', The Hoop Loop (Solo Moderna Remix)' and 'Space Lizards' (the hidden track on the CD version of the album).
The album ‘Floating Heavy’ features influences from reggae, hip hop, jazz, calypso, afro, funk, dub step, disco, broken beat, acid house, drum and bass, Egypt, Brazil and Bollywood. The cover artwork was voted one of the best album covers of the year by Art Vinyl and even made it on to the front page of The Independent newspaper in England.
Me&You are always making remixes, re-edits and re-workings of tracks to play exclusively in their DJ sets. There is a limited double promo CD called 'Music For Birthdays' around...look out for it.
