About me: Mental Health in UK (MHUK) - I created "Mental Health in UK" in July 1998, here in my home in Edinburgh. It started off a very small personal project of mine and expanded to what it is today - a UK Mental Health Portal. The main focus is to reform people's concepts and ideas about what it means to have a mental health problem of any description by informing and enlightening everyone with our creativity, talent and imagination and to provide support and friendship via the online community setup there.
I do have a personal page on the site - All About Me although that is not the main focus, but something for me to document my life and as a way of expression - sometimes about my frustrations that I've had with the mental health system here in Scotland. There are also personal pics, my pets and charitable events.
Something that I will be adding to over the next few years is "Challenging the Psychiatric System". I obtained full copies of my notes over a period of 16+ years and I feel recovered and strong enough to make points about what has been written and to provide an insight into how certain events and observations can be widely misconstrued.
A chapter in my life is now closed and I am officially discharged from the system - but my notes will always be there.
Just recently I have been interviewed for Depression Alliance's Newsletter about online support - Depression Alliance Newsletter. This in on page 6.
I've also had my recovery story published on the Scottish Recovery Network site - My Recovery Story
Wasn't as mad as some I've been to although a certain person (not me)did make one of the most incomprehensible blunders I have ever witnessed............... The pub were so happy we gave them the business the manager kept sending free drinks my way. It was a strange, emotional and funny day and I still can't believe I won't be working in Shandwick Place next week! Thanks for coming in, it was good to see you. Hopefully see you again soon.
What??!! You trying to tell me that in amongst all the gizmos you don't have a machine that scans plastic and takes PIN numbers? And who authorised 2 whole weeks off? Are we actually allowed holidays? :)
