My CD, "The Trio", includes: Paul Lindbegh on tenor sax and flute: Danny Steiner on drums:
Maggie Herron on vocals and keyboard.
Influences
These days my biggest influence is Paul. We are developing a symbiotic relationship in our musical flow. His soloing takes me to new places. I listen to Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, Chick Corea, Kate McGarry, and bassists, Avishai Cohen, Brian Bromberg, Stanley Clarke, as well as Yellowjackets and Spyro Gyra.
From my young and tender years, it was Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, Brahms, Debusey, Brubeck, and later, Oscar Peterson, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and my music partners.
I am inspired by conversations, the ocean, running in Kilauea Iki crater, the elements of nature, smells, touch, immediate attraction.....
And the beat goes on..
Sounds Like
You're listening to Maggie on vocals and keys (split keyboard with bass and piano settings).
Paul is on tenor sax and flute, (having recently started incorporating the soprano on gigs).
Danny is on the drums.
There are several jazz vocal standards, and be sure to check out the original songs. I wrote "Things Could Be Better", and "Another Dose" (for this one, lyric credit to Adryan Russ).
Some of you have commented you especially like to hear original songs.
On my next CD there will be more of that! Meanwhile, try to dig the musicality here.
We are playing live, in the studio, on these songs.
Be a friend!
Aloha!
Maggie
Aloha my friends!
I'm playing with Paul every Friday and Saturday night at the Mauna Kea Hotel on the Kohala Coast (6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Manta Pavilion).
Close your eyes and you'll think you're listening to several people (vocals, bass, keyboards, sax, flute).
We are at Kaleo's in Pahoa every Thursday from 7-9 p.m., and on Sunday's we'll be playing from 6-8 p.m. The food there is ONO! And the atmosphere is very sweet.
Monday nights finds us at Kaikodo (Ohana Grill in Hilo) from 6:30-9:30.
Paul is sounding great on that new soprano sax, and always steller on the tenor sax....... and his flute chops are awesome!
I'm always happy to be playing music and to have the company of wonderful musicians as well as you, our friends.
As our schedule changes I'll post the gig dates here.
Many of you have discovered that one of our greatest and most accessible pleasures in life is MUSIC. It can evoke happiness, nostalgia, momentary sadness, a spark of inspiration..... and seems to be universally wired into our DNA.
Keep your spirits up! Plant some veggies, listen to music, get some exercise,
jump in the ocean and be happy!
For those of you on the Big Island, please tune into my radio jazz show every Sunday morning from 6-10 a.m. on Kona FM 92.1, and 92.7 Hilo, KHBC.
You'll hear mostly jazz on the show, including music from the big band era, some blues, jazz fusion, smooth jazz, great vocalists, and more!

Thank you so much for the add and the friendship! Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week :)

Sounds awesome. Plug you in and the boys become soothed savage beasts in moments. They run over to see you, too. :) Let me know when "If I could be" or Indian Song show up on the playlist.
I pull up your page when I need a few moments of serenity. Not to mention it brings back some wonderful memories of the 3 of us. Love you BTW, when you upload "If I Could Be", let me know :)
