Mia & The Riff is a cover band that started out about 5 years ago! After taking a short break from the music scene, Mia got back out there to a local open mic night at what used to be called Franklin Street (now Dewey's Irish Pub). It was a regular Wednesday night get together that featured local artists such as Sean Kollar (drummer for Exit 23), Scott Czeklinski (lead guitar for Exit 23), Carl Gent (Lead Vocalist for The Violator's), Frank Sannella on guitar just doing his thing, Richie Sharnick on Bass...also doing his thing and Chris Lodice on Drums...you guessed it...doing his thing! It was a tap on the shoulder from Chris Lodice asking if I would "sing with them". I said sure, I'll do a couple of songs with you...he said no, I mean..."you wanna sing in our new band"! Well the rest is history...we started our way out into the world of cover bands...and since then...Richie and Chris have gone onto other things...but Mia & The Riff is still going strong with some new members and some originals.
Mia Fanali- Lead Vocalist- Mia has been performing since she was 7 years old. After winning Star Idol in 2005 for Star 99.9, the music highway really opened up for her! She is currently working on her debut CD, but enjoys gigging with Mia & The Riff about once a month! With a busy schedule, she makes time to wow the fans of The Riff...she makes sure to put on a great show each and every time!
Frank Sannella- A diverse guitar player, Frank is influenced by Dickie Betts! His unique style makes him stand out! His solo does literally make you stop what you are doing to watch him and listen! Frank has been playing since he was a kid and is glad to be part of The Riff!
John Zanella- John has a groove all his own. He's a conductor, he's a smooth and he's locked in tight with the drummer of The Riff! He's got a great stage presence which makes him stand out! A very dynamic player, he can play anything The Riff throws at him!
Carl Gent- Carl has been performing and wowing crowds since he was a kid! As lead singer of the The Violator's, Carl makes time to be part of The Riff too! He's got a fantastic voice with an A+ stage presence! He and Mia have great chemistry on stage which makes them fun to watch and great to listen to!!! They have some great harmonies!
Roger Post- A drummer/percussionist for 40 years, Roger has played on Broadway “42nd St.” (original), “Ain’t Misbehavin’” (revival w/original cast), “Cats”, “Saturday Night Fever” and “Falsettos,” and has played dozens of regional shows. He has played with James Taylor, Donna McKecknie, Judy Collins, Bill Conti, Bill Watrous and Chuck Berry, as well as hundreds of others too numerous to mention. Roger is a very sought after drummer! He holds the band together...locks in tight with John. He's so smoothe, does his own thing, has his own style, but yet he's not flashy...he plays with a power that is amazing, but not overwhelming!
Bob Falcone- Bob is a very diverse key board player. He has a unique talent of doing the most amazing fills! He can fill The Riff's signature song, Proud Mary, and make you think you are listening to an entire horn section! He also has a great voice to compliment Mia and Carl ! He's got a smooth groove and lots of soul!
Gene Skowronski Jr. - Our sound engineer...and what a great job he does! He makes sure that we all sound great, not too loud, not too soft...just right every time! We are lucky to have him as part of the crew!
