With the beauty of a model, moves of a dancer, an ear for music, and a personality that captures hearts, Mia Guzman was built to be a performer. In the beginning, it was the music that gave her energy. Now, it’s her control over the music that helps create an energy she passes along her audience. In her tender years, Mia had shown consistent inclination and incredible talent when it came to music, performing and entertaining an audience. She attended Holy Child Catholic School in elementary, where she was consistently chosen to lead school dances and several performances. In high school, River Ridge High designated her to play the morning music for the school. Every morning, for five minutes, her school would sample the hottest instrumental music Mia would pick out to share with them. Before delving fully into the DJ realm, Mia excelled in providing other forms of entertainment for her audience. She started and steadily climbed up from being an model to appearing in many magazine covers and articles including features on Stuff Magazine, TransWorld Snowboarding Magazine as well as shooting for catalogs such as Southpole Japan, Playstation Video Game Ad, AMPM and a ton of others. In addition, she had gracefully danced and modeled her way to different clubs and, finally, to a number of HOT music videos as well as national commercials. Although already successful in her modeling and dancing career, Mia, born to conquer whatever she puts her determination and heart into, was introduced to DJing. Soon, she learned the basic skills of crowd rocking: mixing and blending, song selection and creating a DJ persona. Her career moved quickly and she was hooked for good. Her ambition, talent and personality landed her a part on MTV’s Wild’n Out w/ Nick Cannon. After the season ended, she bought her own set of Technics, which, not long after, became her obsession. Mia’s DJ debut was a simple hour-long set at a local club. She was a complete success and quickly became the talk of the evening. As a dancer, she knew which selections of top40, 80’s, rock, reggae, pop, R&B, hiphop, dance, house and trance will make crowds move. Most recently, Mia has been performing in clubs from all over the US, as well as some parts of the world, including her Asian debut late of 2008 in INDIA. In addition to this, she had also done an appearance in Wowowee and ASAP in the Philippines, where she performed with Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas. Mia and Apl, sharing parallel experiences and both hailing from the poor population in the Philippines, have been teaming up together in the past year, as well. “Teaming up was a natural thing for us to do. We share a common background… and it helps that our mission in music and culture is similar- we want to bridge music and culture from the Philippines and Asia to the world. With DJ MIA’s determination, excellent work ethics and obvious talent, fans could only expect her absolute best at every performance. So what else could be ahead for this talented performer’s future? You’ll just have to stay tuned and find out!
