From Safari Sam's in Los Angeles, Dec. 12, 2008 (courtesy of Video Louis):
M.I.A. is an American band with its roots in the punk music scene of the 1980s. Originally from Las Vegas, the band relocated to Southern California where they helped define the "Orange County sound." M.I.A. released four albums in the 1980s, all now considered classics of the genre. They toured extensively, playing shows with other seminal bands of the period, including Dead Kennedys, Social Distortion, T.S.O.L., Circle Jerks, Dickies and others. Using the band’s classic material as a foundation, M.I.A. is writing and recording new songs and performing at a select number of shows.
In 2009 MIA is variously:
Nick Adams - Guitar (original band from 1980-85)
Larry Pearson - Drums (original band from 1982-85)
Chris Moon - Drums (original band from 1980-82, 1985-87)
Paul Schwartz - Bass (original band from 1981-85)
Todd Sampson - Vocals (original band 1980)
Bob Thomson - Bass
