Miazmo is a sublime avant-garde project coupling operatic vocals with modern electronica beats and ambience. The music itself is built on authentic bedrock of organic classical instrumentation fused with sub-Aphex blunted percussions and layered musical atmospheres.
This project is built around the legendry live vocals of Tina Baker a singer /songwriter of some repute who for the last 12 years has been studying opera with the likes Maestro Vincent La Selva in NY and Welsh tenor Jeffrey Talbot in London. She has co written with legends such as Arthur Baker, Jeff Beck, Ian Hunter, Neneh Cherry and Jennifer Holiday and sung with artists such as Madonna, U2, Imagination, Jimmy Cliff, Steve Van Zandt, Carly Simon, Al Green, Freeze and Bruce Springsteen.
The instrumentation and rhythms are composed by George Christie a producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, the son of a drumming scientist and that of a singing witch, born from a diverse background in music: ‘Single of the week’ in Melody Maker and Record Collector to a record and album production deal with American label Road Runner Records and London’s More Protein. He has laid tracks with producers from Jim Abbiss (Massive Attack, DJ Shadow) to Phil Brown (Bob Marley, Talk Talk) and Ray Shulman (Sugar Cubes, Cardigans) to Arthur Baker (New Order, Miles Davis).
For music to progress, it requires artists of courage to enquire of themselves and of music; 'what is next?' and to be open to the answers. This is art of courage, open to the answers and unafraid to present itself to the world.
Thank you for including me in your growing legion of fans!
Wow...I don't know what to say except....WOW! I was directed here at the request of a new friend who found me from way across the other side of the world. She too is a musician and goes by the name chukimai
I absolutely LOVE the seemless blend you've concocted between old and new. i am humbled to say the least. And the vocals...so ethereal. Where have you been all my life!?!
