What's on:
Rock Venue and School Stars Competition
The inside stage has traditionally been dedicated to “rock”. Mid afternoon the stage is transformed into the hugely successful School Stars Competition with several ACT school bands participating. This venue will also host the MICfest CD Launch (incorporating prize ceremony for competitions) and Happy Hour at 6.30pm. Following the launch, two CIT student bands will headline into the late evening
Acoustic Stage & Going Solo Competition
The Acoustic Stage will be dedicated to acoustic talent from CIT and the community. CIT’s first year student bands will perform in the afternoon. 2007 will see a return of the hugely successful singing competition, renamed “Going Solo” in the late afternoon showcasing emerging talent from both the CIT and general community.
Chill Lounge & Film Festival
The Chill Lounge is a place where you can sit for a quiet drink and enjoy the diverse offerings of student work via sound or screen. It is a relaxed environment for all patrons to come and experience the work produced by the MIC and other CIT students throughout the year. This space will host the MICfest Film Festival (two screenings 4-5pm and 7-8pm) screening short films from CIT and the community
Sound Garden
Students involved in the subject Technical Sound Project are planning, designing and building sound art installations to be showcased at MICfest. These installations will be in the upstairs space of the MIC
Bar and food
The event will once again have a bar offering beverages (tea, coffee from 1-4pm and alcoholic beverages from 4pm – 10pm) in the MIC itself (event ID bands will be issued on entry to all patrons). Food will also be offered over the course of the event with an expanded menu and extended opening hours for 2007
