I don't stand for the black man's side, I don' t stand for the white man's side.I stand for God's side. Bob Marley

About Bob Marley ( Copied from Bob Marley MySpace Page)

Almost a quarter of a century after his untimely death, the legend of Bob Marley continues to grow and his mighty back catalogue of peerless songs retains its unparalleled ability to move and inspire people the world over.

The story of how the rhythms of a tiny Caribbean island came to dominate the planet is one of the most extraordinary in the history of popular culture. And although Jamaica boasts many fine singers and musicians, it was the vision of one man and his band - Bob Marley and the Wailers - which spearheaded the global takeover of the music he liked to call 'roots rock reggae'.

"You'd probably find it hard to go for 24 hours anywhere in the world without seeing his image or hearing one of his songs," reckons Chris Blackwell, the former Island Records boss who launched Marley's international career and produced many of his finest records.

Born in rural Jamaica in 1945 but growing up in the tough ghetto environment of Kingston's Trenchtown, Marley has been called the Third World's first superstar. Yet the most striking characteristic of his music is its capacity to transcend race, gender, class and every other artificial barrier mankind choses to erect and - as Chris Blackwell puts it - to speak with a unique directness to "anyone, any time, anywhere."

To those engaged in struggling against oppression, his rebel music has a particular resonance. But you don't have to belong to the down-pressed and dispossessed to embrace Marley's message of liberation, his anthems of hope and his dreams of freedom.

Today, an audience not even born when he died of cancer in 1981 at the tragically young age of 36 , is constantly discovering his songs anew. 'Timeless' is a much overused word that has become a cliché in popular music, an industry that by its very definition is built on the passing whims of fad and fashion. Yet there is nothing transient about the music of Bob Marley. Listen, for example, to Slogans, a song he recorded as a sketchy demo in 1979, but which is only now being released for the first time, and you might imagine the lyrics articulate the tragedy of New Orleans in 2005.

Marley himself would probably have hated the iconification that has taken place since his death. He enjoyed his success and, heaven knows, he worked hard enough to achieve it. But while his music undeniably possesses a deeply spirituality quality, what marked him out was his humanity. His ability to uplift and inspire was not built upon artifice or pomposity. It was born of his own blood, sweat and tears. As Chris Blackwell puts it, Bob Marley was "real". And it is that, above all else, that has made him a legend. <

First found in Pembrokeshire (Welsh: Sir Benfro), a county in south-west Wales, anciently part of the Welsh kingdom of Deheubarth, where the family claim descent from Gualgnain or Gwalwynne, who was King Arthur's sister's son, as attested by historians William of Malmesbury, and Robert of Gloucester. Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: James Walwyn settled in the Barbados in 1678 with his daughter Anne, and servants; John Wallin settled in New England in 1764; Mr. Wallin settled in New York in 1841.

Who I'd like to meet:

Hello

HELLO

I am a 44 (WELL ALMOST 45 OK)former engineering and surveying assistant living on the south Texas coast. I came here nearly 3 years ago with my wife, and daughter. We came here to escape the weather, attitudes of our home state of Oklahoma, and the stress of the current lifestyle of trying to obtain and maintain more and more "Stuff". The peace and quiet of the sea has been healing.

..Following, you will find the words to Bob Marley's "Redemption songs". It has become my mantra.

..The greatest change in my and my familys lives, is the growing believe in the universal brotherhood of man, and the fact that race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or political stance, does not allow anyone to disrespect, or to regard another to be less of a person because the individual is not living in the manner you feel they should.

..This freedom and extension of love to all permeates the music of Bob Marley. The freedom of living one's life on your own terms, and forced servitude of an individual is the theme of "Redemption Songs".

..It's subject is the kidnapping and sale of Africans in to slavery. I find this to be a type and shadow of the enslavement of all of us to prejudice, fear, intolerance, and a socio/religious system that was created to control and calm the masses.

..This system has both literally, and figuratively destroyed any who have spoken against it, and snared any weak minded enough to blindly follow.

..So enjoy the video of Mr. Marley singing this song and then "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery" for only you can free your mind.

..But if you don't want to that's cool. Live the way you wish.

.."Redemption Song"

.. By

.. Bob Marley

..Old pirates, yes, they rob i; Sold I to the merchant ships, Minutes after they took i From the bottomless pit.

..But my hand was made strong By the and of the almighty. We forward in this generation Triumphantly.

..Wont you help to sing These songs of freedom? - cause all I ever have: Redemption songs; Redemption songs.

..Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds. Have no fear for atomic energy, cause none of them can stop the time.

..How long shall they kill our prophets, While we stand aside and look? ooh! Some say its just a part of it: Weve got to fulfil de book.

..Wont you help to sing These songs of freedom? - cause all I ever have: Redemption songs; Redemption songs; Redemption songs.

..Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our mind. Wo! have no fear for atomic energy, cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time. How long shall they kill our prophets, While we stand aside and look? Yes, some say its just a part of it: Weve got to fulfil de book.

BOLD>Wont you help to sing Dese songs of freedom? - cause all I ever had: Redemption songs - All I ever had: Redemption songs:

In addition to my Family ,Bob Marley, and Reggea Music, I like automobiles, and racing.

Over the years I have been able to drive or own numerous very enjoyable autos. Not all of them were the fastest in their class, but each was satisfying in it's own way.

You will find pics of them in my slide show above. Including the Cadillac XLR Prototype, I drove, at speed, at Gateway race track. During the session I had the privilege of having Nick Fanelli as my driving instructor.

of all of the exotic cars in my slide, I would choose to own the Carrera GT. However since a million dollar car is not likely in the near future, I'll take an M-3

Any form of racing is of some interest to my, but I no longer follow NASCAR that much. I tend to lean toward road racing. F1, ALMS, Grand Am, Lemans, and Super Sedan, are my top picks. Rallying rounds out my list, but it is a very incomplete one. the above mentioned slide show will give you a more complete idea.

Of these F-1 stands out as my favorite. My favorite team is Ferrari. I have been a fan since I was a young boy.

Everyone has their favorite drivers, and I am no different, but it is hard for me to choose just one. Juan Manuel Fangio, to me is the greatest F1 driver of all time. Next, in no particular order, would be Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Nigel Mansell, Alan Prost, and Of course Sir Jackie Stewart.
