ERIC NILSEN: bass guitar/vocal/barbeque genius. Eric left his home in Nashville to get away from his ex-wife and tour the country with the Champs, Dennis Yost (Classics Four), the Platters, Brenton Wood, Len Barry, Jerry Cole (Wrecking Crew), Al Wilson, Donnie Brooks, and Brenda Holloway. Eric spends most of his free time tracking down exotic woods, smoking meat, and chasing women - not necessarily in that order. His rock-solid bottom and steady groove keeps things in the pocket.
MARK CREAMER: lead guitar/vocals/dog ears. Amarillo, Texas born and raised, Mark picked with the legendary Fireballs before he was old enough to buy cigarettes. Jimmy Bowen and Lee Hazelwood kidnapped the boy and dragged him to L.A. to play his unique B-bender guitar. Mark's first session was Nancy Sinatra's boots Are Made For Walkin'. More followed - Paul Anka, Billy Joel, Tina Turner, Bob Seger, Kim Carnes... Also a gifted studio engineer, Mark manned the board on hit albums by Whitney Houston, Chicago, Robin Ford, Michael McDonald, Tommy Newsom and a host of others you can find in the bargain bin.
PETER (Bone Daddy) KLIMES: funky guitar/slidey stuff/vocals. Too skinny to be a Hollywood male model, Pete picked up a Telecaster, picked his way into the Association, replaced Eric Clapton in Delaney's blues group, and teamed up with Tom Waits. (Tom's a soprano compared to Pete). Peter joined Chain's band because they are the only guys crazier than he is. Children in Biafra are raising money to feed Peter.
JOHN PALMER: drummer/bongo boy. Grew up in Northern California on Rockabilly records and Bettie Page. John played with Don Randi's jazz trio at the Baked Potato, Peter Tork and Mickey Dolenz (the Monkees), Sha Na Na, James Intveld, Ronnie Dawson, Wanda Jackson, Don and Dewey, the 5th Dimension, and the Diamonds before hooking up with Chain. Palmer spends most of his time wandering aimlessly and not eating meat.
When it comes to song writing, the story's the thing, and MICHAEL CHAIN tells one with the best of them. No big surprise. CHAIN has been a top music and screenwriter for years (major artists record his tunes and his shows have been EMMY nominated). And the man can sing. A quick listen to any cut on CHAIN'S new CD Loud and Proud makes that clear.
Michael wrote and produced his new CD with engineer Dave Matthews twiddling knobs at Studio 19 in Nashville and the first cut released, "Do You Wanna Do It?", hit number one on the Hot AC Indie Charts. Musicians stand in line to work with CHAIN and his cast on this go round include folks who have played with George Harrison, Steely Dan, the Rolling Stones, Ring Starr, Joe Cocker, Elton John, Billy Joel, Tom Waits, Bob Seger, Eric Clapton, Dylan, Waylon, Faith, Tina, Shania... this band don't suck! They love getting to stretch on Chain's unique brand of music and they play their hearts out for him. You can't really categorize Chain's genre - it's way too eclectic - so we call it "loud and proud." No tricks, no loops, no pitch-fixing, no Pro Tools - just strong songs, solid vocals, killer tracks. CHAIN is all about the music. This band don't suck!
