Hakkımda:

Well let’s see. You want to know about me. There are the obvious aspects-- family and church-- I love my family and my God. Outside of that, I am passionate about history. I have been since attending my first Civil War re-enactment in 1982. Since 1982, I’ve attended hundreds of events, from Gettysburg, PA (1988, 1998) to tiny events in Arcadia, Florida, (1993?). I served for several years as 1st Sgt. and then captain of Company H, 37th Alabama. I am a founding member of Hardy’s brigade, and served as lieutenant colonel and colonel of first battalion, Hardy’s brigade, from 1995 until 2002. I am currently serving as AIG (assistant inspector general) for the newly formed Hardee’s corps. When not so employed, I am an aide-de-camp on staff of the Southern Guard Brigade. I am also involved with the Civil War Preservation Trust, Friends of the National Parks at Gettysburg, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. In the latter, I am commander of the Southern Highlands Brigade.

I am also a writer. I write mostly about the Civil War, and local (western North Carolina ) history. I have nine books published. The tenth will be out after Christmas. Writing has afforded me numerous opportunities to travel and meet some great people. My articles have appeared in America’s Civil War, North and South, Civil War Times, and Gettysburg Magazine. When I am not writing, or spending time with my family, I enjoy book collecting and photography, metal detecting, fishing, and creeking. I am also on the board of directors of the Avery County Historical Society and Museum, and I spend a great deal of time at our local museum in Newland.
