Im 84 years old and have been playing, writing and performing music for more than 30 of those years. Been living in Vermont for about that long as well (grew up in Buffalo.) My first instrument was guitar but I started playing saxophone in the 80's in the So-Called Jazz Sextet, viperHouse and then Orchid. I started playing guitar again when my older daughter picked up the fiddle and now its all guitar. My musical interests vary widely - I write and play songs, I perform often with Anais Mitchell (she and I have been working for 4 years now and made both her records together). I have a six piece group called Magic City for which I play "prepared" guitar. Magic City has also been the pit orchestra for an opera called Hadestown that Anais wrote and that I wrote the orchestrations for. Our new trio is called Sister Ann Perpetua and performs art songs on guitar, cello and voice. I play free improvisation with a fine group called Ensemble V. Seth Eames and I have just embarked on a collaboration as well. I have made 18 records as a band-leader over the years. I have also arranged suites of music by Nino Rota, Sun Ra and Kurt Weill. I'm not too fond of gratuitous irony and appreciate sincerity. In other words I'm a throwback. C'est bon?
Hi Michael. It was good to see you at PJ and Willa's wedding this summer. Listening to Magic City brings back some fond memories. I hope that we can make some music together sometime in the very near future! peace

I actually picked out Hard Days Night & Louis Armstrong's Hello, Dolly! on vinyl, when I was 4 years old at Sattlers! Coveting the merch wasn't my usual M.O.. but I DID like that!
