Born in Memphis, TN, I discovered my love for novel writing during a high school internship for the General Investigation Bureau in the summer of 2005. Months later, I independently published The Wade Scandal. I then moved to NYC to attend college and pursue my author dreams. Thereafter, I wrote two more books. And I'm currently working on my fourth, FOUR MINUTES TO LIVE.
Music
2pac- great man, leader, artist, actor, and one of the most self-aware artists I've listened to.
Janelle Monae - Like her afro-punk stlye.
Astrud Gilberto- her music is extremely soothing.
The Beatles- "Paperback Writer" is my theme song.
Bob Dylan - He was a true artist.
Movies
The Godfather 1,2,3
There Will Be Blood
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
Michael Clayton
Fight Club
Atonement (though I couldn't see myself watching it a seond time).
The Reasons I Won't Be Coming by Eliot Perlman
Sideways by Rex Pickett
Ghost by Robert Harris
The Partner by John Grisham
Heroes
Jesus (though it's cliche, a little hypocritical at times, and overused without substance to name Jesus, he is indeed my #1 hero.
Jay-Z - I currently live in Bed Stuy and to see such a success come from such a place is inspiring to me. I also like his marriage of equally talented artistic and entrepreneurial traits.
Tyler Perry - He was homeless at one point and he overcame. And not only for that reason do I think he's a genius.
Umm...
It's called... ummm....
Lethologica....
You know when you can't think of the word or words to say...
Yeah, it's called lethologica...
Um...
My name is Mike. Hi!
I am a Brooklynite by way of Memphis. By trade, I'm an author, and by essence, I'd like to think of myself as an artist. I write to make you FEEL. I strive to create a how-sweet-the-sound-of-what-I-just-read type thing.
Yeah... Um...
What to say...
Who I'd like to meet: Oprah, Eliot Perlman, John Grisham, Chuck Palahnuik, Julia Allison, Steve Jobs, me from a year ago, and you of course!!
Dear Michael, How are things? I was very intrigued when I spoke to you last, about your book. You are so young and I see that you have done so much with your life.
I tried to read but I don't know much about YOU. Who you are. What you like to do. What inspires you. Things along those lines. If I'm getting too personal, I appologise.
I’m rather excited because I have a small part in an upcoming film based on Steve Aylett’s book LINT. Remember how “Spinal Tap” was a spoof on Heavy Metal bands and “The Ruttles” was a take-off on The Beatles? Now, Science Fiction has LINT!
