They watched in silence as he 'built' each song, layer by layer, armed with nothing more than a guitar and a mic, by using loops and echoes from his bank of electronics. I've seen KT Tunstall and Bill Nelson use the same techniques much less effectively. This was a master class. Each song had its own identity, some built from guitar sounds, some from his own vocals, each layer harmonising or accompanying the previous one. The wall of sound he single-handedly created reminded me of the Engineers or of Leaves."
