Ever since he was little, Michael Ingber has been completely addicted to music and banging on things to keep rhythm, whether it was clicking his teeth or pounding on a car door to emulate the sound of the bass drum. Eager to pick up a pair of drum sticks, he requested to play the drums in his 4th grade band class and has been taking it seriously ever since. Michael went on to taking up the drum kit at age 14 with the masterful teachings of local Jazz artist, Chris Carroll (Ben Monder, Greg Osby). Although he was learning the technique from Jazz, Michael was always passionate about playing in the pocket. During the same year, because of his rapid development on the drum kit, he was asked to join a band with some of his friends called, "The People," in which he developed a back bone in the music industry. He experienced great success at the local level and got to experience the business in terms of recording, booking, managing, marketing, gigging, etc. At the age of 15, Michael’s drum teacher sparked his interest in music engineering and production and by the age of 17, he had produced his first album with his band.
Michael took all of this experience with him to the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he took in everything he could from performance to production, and even business. Michael has studied with Berklee professors such as Jackie Santos (Tavares, Chuck Berry), Kenwood Dennard (Sting, Herbie Hancock), Tony "Thunder" Smith (Lou Reed), Steve Wilkes (Blue Man Group), Skip Hadden (Bill Frisell, Weather Report), Dave DiCenso (John Petrucci), Dave Cowan, Rick Consadine, Ralph Peterson Jr. (Michael Brecker), Kim Plainfield , and John Ramsay (Art Blakey and the Jazz Messangers). During his stay at Berklee, Michael worked on several projects with his fellow Berklee peers and alum (Aedius, Emily Greene, Jimi Anderson, Parkview). Michael now resides in Austin, TX where he is taking music on full time. Michael currently plays with acts such as Mike Maven, and is working in his professional recording studio. Michael is apart of the Po Boy Drums family and plays with Mario De La Cruz Drumsticks.
