L-A-X is a new alt-rock experiment by Newfoundland songwriter Michael Lake and New Jersey percussionist Alex Mine, breaking Lake's multi-layered songs down to just drums and guitar. Michael Lake Band and Whiskey Gordon are his part-time rock bands with lots more instruments. He also performs solo on acoustic. Michael is a scorpio chocolate junkie born in the year of the dog. The first song he fell in love was Heart Of Gold by Neil Young. Upon discovering his dad had a copy of Harvest, he played it until the grooves wore out. Zeppelin 4 and Sergeant Pepper's were the first records of his own. Michael was born in the small town of Freshwater on the southeast coast of Newfoundland. He grew up in St. John’s and now lives in Toronto
