    Michael Lark's Interests
GeneralMusic of any kind, both playing it and listening to it - I have played guitar (badly) since I was sixteen, and I've just recently started learning to play the djembe, a West African hand drum - I jam every Wednesday with a group here in town, and it has quickly become my favorite day of the week! I love baseball of any kind, both playing it and spectating it. And of course, art, though mainly only the graphic and illustration kind, not the fartsy kind. Besides drawing and music, my other raison d'etre is my son Calvin (named after the comic strip, not the president or the baseball player).
MusicIn alphabetical order (all-time faves in All-Caps): AD/DC, Badfinger, Beatles, BIG STAR, The Black Keys, James Brown, The Byrds, CHEAP TRICK, MILES DAVIS, The Donnas , Dream Syndicate, Dumptruck, Elastica, , Farrah, FLEETWOOD MAC, FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE, Peter Gabriel, Guided By Voices, The High Dials, Robyn Hitchcock, THE JAM, JET, MAMADY KEITA, The Kinks, Kiss (I liked 'em when I was 10, so it's purely for nostalgic value), The Knack, Kruder and Dorfmeister, FAMOUDOU KONATE, LED ZEPPELIN, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Love Nut, LUNA, Aimee Mann, Material Issue, Natalie Merchant, Steve Miller Band (guilty pleasure), Lee Morgan, Myracle Brah, Oasis, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, THE PIXIES, PORTASTATIC, The Posies, The Primary 5, PRINCE, Queen (another guilty pleasure), r.e.m., THE REPLACEMENTS, Jonathan Richman, The Rolling Stones, The Rooks, Rush (All right! So I have a lot of guilty pleasures!), THE SHAZAM, Silver Sun, SLOAN, The Smithereens, The Soft Boys, SPOON, Bruce Springsteen, Squeeze, The Stone Roses, The Strokes, Sugar, Supergrass, Sweet (still more guilty pleasure), MATTHEW SWEET, T REX, TEENAGE FANCLUB, TELEVISION, THELONIUS MONK, Tosca, TSAR, u2, Velvet Crush, VELVET UNDERGROUND, TOM VERLAINE, TOM WAITS, Waxwings, Paul Weller, THE WHO, Neil Young.

MoviesAnything Cohen Brothers; film noir; giant monsters smashing cities; good westerns; good or bad Kung Fu; Pixar, just to name a few.

Favorites (in no particular order): Iron Man; Hero; The Incredibles; The Big Lebowski; The Third Man; Sudden Fear; Shaolin Soccer; Star Wars (it's NOT called "A New Hope"!); A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More.... And too many others to mention.

I'll take a pass on the Tim Burton movies, thankyouverymuch.
TelevisionHomicide: Life on the Street. Buffy. Baseball. I am ashamed to say that I can quote extensively from old Simpsons and Seinfeld episodes. Black Adder - the best insults anywhere. Oh, and Mary Tyler Moore. I'm in love with her. I can't help it.
BooksI'll read just about anything. I like anything that's funny, and I love crime fiction. Also some true crime, but it makes me feel guilty that I'm being entertained by someone else's pain.

Some favorites are David Sedaris; "Confederacy of Dunces"; Ray Bradbury; Dashiell Hammett; Raymond Chandler; Ross Macdonald; Elmore Leonard.
HeroesMuhammed Ali, Jackie Robinson, Bill Wilson, and anyone else who was willing to risk their own status quo for the benefit of a higher good.

About me:
I'm the guy that draws Daredevil. I like coffee. I like baseball. I like music. I like some comics, but not all. I like to draw. I'm kinda small. I have hair under my lip - some people call it a "soul patch", but I hate that name.

Lately I've been getting a lot of requests to do pinup pieces and commissions. Please be aware that I am under an exclusive contract with Marvel Comics, which doesn't allow me to do work for other companies or comics. And all personal commission requests are handled through my art dealer's website. Please contact him, and we'll do our best to set something up.

I have my own forum!

And you can also check out a gallery of my artwork, as well as make commission requests, here at my art dealer's website - Splashpage Art.

Please visit some of the great artists, writers, and bands that are on my friends list!

Hey Michael. Just wanted you to know that I started reading your adaptation of Raymond Chandler's "The Little Sister." I ordered it off of Amazon.com. I really like it. You really have a gift for creating worlds of noir. You should hook with Steve Niles and do a Cal McDonald story with him, or at least draw some pics of the character.

Too Cool! It makes sense that you are familer with the Freak Brothers since you are an artist. Gibert Shelton rocks. I got turned on to them in the 70's by an artist boyfriend. If anybody ever paid attention to what I wanted for a present it would be Freak Brothers comics. LOL I have a Fat Freddys Cat anthology comic book that is MIA in a box somewhere. I am a huge Calvin fan too. I have spent hours looking at my calivin books while trying to forget that I couldn't breathe back when I was having asthma issues. See Ya Wed. BTW you are rocking out on the djembe more and more. I notice how good you are becoming.
Right On!

Actually, I delete them from time to time. Fortunately I only have a handful of friends, so I don't have to clear them very often.
