Michael Maac has always loved all kinds of music, however he is passionate about traditional/classic Country, and after a number of years away from being involved in music, he decided to take some action. Michael began listening to the Grand Ole Opry with his grandmother when he was 8 years old. Unfortunately, she died when he was 10, but his love of country music and the Grand Ole Opry had already become a part of him.
It was about this time in his life when a very special lady came to work for Michael's dad and became a special friend. Her name? Maxine Brown. Maxine along with her brother Jim Ed, and later sister Bonnie, formed the legendary trio, The Browns. Their trio helped define three part harmony in country music. They appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1961, which at the time was THE television show that everyone in America had to watch each Sunday night. They had Number 1 songs, both country and pop, and Jim Ed continues to star on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville each Saturday night, although the girls have long since retired.
It was Maxine who gave Michael his very first guitar when he was 11 years old, and fanned the flame in his heart for music and especially Country music. After learning to play his new instrument, Michael played in country bands from age 12. He played at hospitals, nursing homes and other venues, and began the honky tonk circuit while in college.
After a number of years of dreaming, he decided to do something about his "dream". With the encouragement of his family and close friends, he began to study and learn more about the craft of songwriting. Currently, he has written some seventy songs and recorded some 15 of those. He writes both lyrics and melodies to all his songs. Not only is he writing, but Michael is performing more and more at various places. With the help of some of his new songwriting friends, he has several dates already booked now, and some more to be announced soon. Perhaps his biggest thrill to date is his appearances at the world famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tn. This is one of the most famous singer/songwriter venues in the world, and has provided a springboard for stars like Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, TriciaYearwood and several others.
Among those influencing Michael are of course Maxine Brown, along with Waylon Holyfield and Aaron Barker. And again his family plays a big part in all of this including his daughter and son in law, his two sons and two daughters in law, and his nine wonderful grandchildren. Without their support and the support of some of his close friends..."Following His Dream" would not be possible.
