Acoustic guitar blended with beautiful violins, catchy sing-a-long choruses, haunting vocals, eerie piano, stacked with fat hip hop loops over the top. McClead takes an amazingly produced sound and packages it with an intimate and enigmatic live show that is a once-in-a-lifetime experience of spiritual performance art that hits like a hammer. Live musicians include McClead on vocals and synths, Peter "the Animal" Hermes on drums, Jim Rickard on guitar, and Robin Laninga on bass guitar.
"These songs have been built over a period of 12 years. Some of these songs saw their beginnings during my teen years. The album that is currently in progress represents more than a decade's worth of work and it is my highest hopes that it is worthy of so much time and effort. Throughout the production of this record, I have lost life long friends, seen loved ones go to heaven, learned that I will be a new daddy, and battle a life altering illness. Each song tells a story about my life in music and my relationship with Jesus Christ. Each song is a spiritual testimony about my journey from atheism to the realization of the fact that I am a child of the most high, God. The songs are about failed relationships, failing health, failing hearts and the renewed hope I have found in the one who has conquered death and the world." - Michael McClead.
Michael McClead brings over a decade of music business experience to the world of Christian music. In his latest effort, McClead brings a heartfelt singer songwriter project to life with haunting vocals, enchanting strings, and catchy choruses anchored by hip hop loops. His self titled release is unlike any acoustic based record anyone has ever heard and arguably stands alone as a creative force in the world of Christian music. Formerly signed to a Hollywood record company, McClead brings Hollywood label experience to the world of Christian music. McClead has also worked with the late legendary Chicago soundman Jerry Soto (Buddy Guy, Eddie Clearwater, Super Bowl Shuffle) and legendary Hollywood photographer, Marvin Rinnig (David Bowie, Mick Jagger). In addition to his solo material, Michael is also the lead singer of Christian hard rock band Nothing Can Separate. McClead's born again experience is most noteworthy as the rock n roll lifestyle provided for some serious flaws in McClead's character that were revealed shortly before that experience. "On my own I'm nothing. That has been proven time and time again. Jesus Christ saved me. It is through salvation that I am anything. It is because of His sacrifice that I have any worth whatsoever. God looked down on the Earth and saw that none are good; but, because of the sacrifice of His son, we can be made righteous in His eyes. His law shined a light onto the darkest areas of my life. He saved me. What more to say?" -Michael McClead. It was through faith in Christ that McClead decided to start Bless the Day Music, an upstart independent and family run Christian record label. "I want Christian artists to have the opportunity to put forth their best artistic effort, without a record label executive standing over the session, trying to pinch pennies and silence the artist's constitutionally protected first ammendment right to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our job, as a family run label, is to sign artists with a real passion for Jesus and to get them set up to evangelize through not just music; but, music that is even better than the stuff we're subjected to on mainstream radio. We are also personally dedicated to treat every artist as if they were a dear member of our own family. We’re still in the developing stages; but, I have the highest faith and hope in what we are doing." -Michael McClead. Unafraid to tackle any subject matter, McClead's songs deal with weighty subjects like abortion and poverty, as well as his own personal testimony on the change of his heart and music that came manifest in the form of Jesus Christ. McClead's first solo album was recorded and mixed with Larry Kriz of LNL Recording and mastered by the SoundLab (Eminem, Jason Newsted, The Roots). The self titled effort will be released through McClead’s own label Bless the Day Music in December 2008. The album will be available at BlesstheDayMusic.com, MichaelMcClead.com, CDBaby.com, ITunes, and other local music stores near you. Be on the lookout for some amazing live shows as McClead teams up with long-time friends Jim Rickard and Peter Hermes to bring the music to life at a venue near you.
