My name is Mike McGinnis. I play clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano sax, tenor sax & alto sax. Plus some flutes and other woodwinds that I’ve picked up on various journeys. I like to perform and compose music that comes from and goes to many directions. Most of it has improvisation that can be concrete and structured or not.
I grew up in Sanford, Maine and have been in NYC since 1997.
I have recorded CD’s on NCM East, RKM Music and other little labels.
Some regular groups I have played with in the last year include the four bags, OK|OK, The Loser’s Lounge, The Lonnie Plaxico Group. I also like doing random studio & sideman things of music of all types.
