It has been six years since Michael and Melinda Campbell started traveling sharing the gospel with the world through song. Married since 1996, the duo has had chart success with almost every song they have released to radio, and when asked what they hope will come of their newest project, they state they want to reach even more people, travel to more places, and encourage both the lost and the saved.
Michael has been playing and singing his entire life. Guitar was his first instrumental effort, but he has since added many other stringed instruments and a variety of others to his repertoire. Instilled in him at a very early age was a love of gospel and bluegrass. He transitioned into the more contemporary sounds of country and rock but never fully escaped his roots.
While he toured with a popular group playing the secular circuit, it was shortly after marrying Melinda that the Lord refocused Michael’s efforts, and from that Michael has penned single-handedly the majority of the team’s songs.
Melinda grew up in a home that recognized a myriad of musical genres and trained in a more formal setting when young; however, her love for sports and academics pulled her in a different direction. Though she loved singing, she rarely expressed this talent until Michael quite by accident heard her harmonizing in another room in their home. It took some coaxing, but Melinda finally came around and agreed to sing with Michael in his gospel group.
The Campbells started their gospel efforts as two of the three-member group Turnaround. When the group dissolved after a year, Michael and Melinda chose to venture out on their own and truly haven’t looked back. They have toured in many states in the Eastern United States and have been heard worldwide through many radio stations.
The duo has recorded three all-original projects including the latest “All the Reasons Why.” This year promises to be Michael and Melinda’s best year ever, and they say they are up to the challenge of managing their music career along with raising their boys—Colin age 7, and Cameron age 3.
Michael and Melinda have recently signed a record contract with Lamon Records of Monroe, North Carolina. For more information on Michael and Melinda Campbell, visit their web page, call Michael at (270) 427-8260.

“POEM WRITTEN BY TOM BURRESS” “Why are we able to sleep each night, safe from the enemy? Why are we able to do the things we do with our family? Why are we able to go to church to hear the preacher preach? Why are we able to express our self, with freedom of speech? There is a simple answer to the questions asked today; it is because of our fathers, grandfathers, and men and women through the years, who freely gave their lives away. They fought and died for this awesome country of red, white, and blue; to give freedom to every great American, their gift to me and you. So on Monday as you gather with those you love so dear; give honor and thanks to those who have died on down through the years. Don’t forget to say a prayer as we celebrate this Memorial Day, for those still fighting for the greatest country ever, “THE GOOD OLE U.S.A. ”
