I watch anything good! WV State Trooper LODD Body: Condolences to the WV State Police and Trooper Linn's family. KEARNEYSVILLE, WV – West Virginia State Police are mourning the loss of one of their own; a trooper was killed in the line of duty. Trooper Brian Linn was actually on his way to help another officer who was chasing a suspect on foot on Route 9 in Kearneysville. He lost control of his vehicle, hit a utility pole, and rolled several times into a field. He was airlifted to Winchester Hospital where he was pronounced dead early Saturday morning. When Trooper Brian Linn responded to a call Friday night, his comrades never knew it would be the last time they would serve alongside him. "We like to think of the state police as one big family. Trooper Linn had been with us for a little over two years," said Charles Morton, Sergeant. The State Police Force isn't the only family mourning the loss of trooper Linn. He was just 25-years-old, and leaves behind a wife and two little girls. Not only was he a good father, but officers said he was simply a good human being. “He was honest, dependable and intelligent. Those things are hard to find in people. Not everyone has those qualities these days," said Morton. In the face of tragedy, the Charles Town Detachment of the West Virginia State Police is trying their best to carry on. "I think trooper Linn would want the state police to press onward and continue to serve the citizens of West Virginia as best we can. I'm sure that's what he would want to do, and that's what we will try to do," said Morton. It's a part of the job that comes with the territory. "During this type of job, we go through a lot of stressful events together. It brings us closer. We depend on each other a lot just like family members. It's tragic and it hurts us all,” said Morton. The investigation of the crash is still ongoing.
