Michael Caruso, born in Philadelphia, PA, he grew up in Los Angeles, CA. Caruso studied both music and theatre at the world renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan.
Music and singing were always Caruso's greatest passion, and Michael relocated to Los Angeles, where he was hired on as a staff songwriter for Homegrown Music, Sony Music Publishing and The Geffen Music Group. While in LA, he scored three gold records, one for each of those respective publishers. "Love Is" recorded by Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight, was nominated for a Grammy in the best of R & B vocal category and recently earned Michael a special citation of achievement from BMI for garnering two million broadcast performances.
Caruso's next co-publishing venture was with the Chrysalis Music Group. Chrysalis in association with RuffHouse Records prompted Caruso's important move to Nashville. As a songwriter Caruso landed three cuts on the Rita Coolidge album "Thinkin' About You" and the hit single "Runaway Love" for Chris LeDoux's Capitol Records CD "One Road Man".
His songs have been recorded by notable artists such as Maura OConnell, The Sons of Champlin, Vanessa Williams, The Dells, Brian McKnight, Mike LeCompt, Michael Sembello, The Immigrants, Lita Ford, John Purdell, Rogelio Martinez, Jeff Paris, Tamara Champlin, A Perfect Day, Terri Nunn, Vixen and many others including Joan Jett with her version of Caruso's "Long Live the Night" from Geffen's "Days of Thunder" soundtrack. The International Country Music star Jill Morris also recorded "Everything About You", on her BMG CD entitled "Just One Kiss". "Guns of Love" one of Michael's most successful compositions has been recorded by influential artist, Pam Rose which can be found on her CD "Morpheus". "Guns" was also recorded by The Moffatts and was included on Kathy Mattea's "Roses" CD produced by Narada Michael Walden.
Michael Caruso now resides in Los Angeles, CA where he continues to work as a producer, songwriter and music consultant for Mark Friedman of the Chrysalis Music Group. He is collaborating with rising stars, Will Champlin, Aubrey Collins, and Still Standing. Michael has had the distinct honor of working with the late great Sammy Cahn, and continues to work with Grammy winners and nominees Bill Champlin, Dennis Matkosky, Trey Bruce, Eric Bazilian, Randy Sharp as well as Academy Award winner Paul Williams who all enjoy a close personal relationship, and creative work association with Michael.
