Sounds Like
Simon and Garfunkel, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Tom Petty, Peter Townsend.
From the day my mother gave me my first instrument at the age of five, I became a musical sponge. Learning any instrument I could get my hands on, it didn’t take long until I was involved in repairing and connecting instruments to PA systems. Microphones and amplifiers were next.
By 15 I was recording my own songs on reel-to-reel. Years later, while managing a local music store, I was given the opportunity to perform with the areas most talented musicians including The Merchants Of Death, Euphoria, Harry Strawberry, Crash Landing, It, and Tellin’ Ellen. I haven’t stopped since.
I have had the pleasure of hearing my songs played on local college and commercial radio stations including WOXY, WEBN, and UC Bearcast. I enjoyed performing at festivals like West Fest and for good causes like the American Cancer Society with Crash Landing. While with Euphoria, we won the Habitats for Humanity battle of the bands benefit at Seasongood Pavilion in Eden Park (Cincinnati, Ohio).
There have been a lot of changes over the years. The reel-to-reel recording decks are replaced with DAW stations. The mixing, effects, sends, recording and mastering are all done on computers. Garage Band and similar programs provide the instruments and accompaniment……
But the thing I still love the most I experience
while performing live at festivals and benefits.
No “tech”, no “toys”: just play guitar and
sing my original songs to a great audience.

“GAME OVER” for Cup & Saucer Café Current mood: melancholy Category: Life
We regret to announce the closing of Cup & Saucer Café after three and a half years in business. Call 513-544-7017 for information on buying the business. It was a good run for a mom & pop business, longer than many expected, especially considering that Marcy had a stroke just one month after we started. We had a lot of nice employees, customers, and entertainers but there were too many factors working against us. Maybe we’ll write a book about it when things calm down, but basically we had too many expenses, not enough income, and way too much stress. Health problems are the primary cause of failure of small business, and we had to bail out before it killed one or both of us. So everybody take care while we do the same. Some day we’ll get back to making Marcy Burgers, presenting great performers and taking photos of them. In the meantime keep in touch. We’d love for you to share your memories of Cup & Saucer and we’d also love to hear about your progress, especially if you got your start on our stage. Please leave comments on our page so everyone can share.
