A visionary is defined as: ‘A person of unusually keen foresight.’ Visionary considers himself inspired by the Almighty. This rising sun spreads his positive lyrics to awaken the worlds’ consciousness and to encourage the pursuit of higher heights.
Michael Thompson a.k.a. “Visionary” began his musical relationship at a very young age. In his early years “Visionary” was a member of a family singing group with roots derived from the church, in his home town of High Gate in St.Catherine, Jamaica. The blessed voice “Visionary” was anointed with allowed him to venture out to become a solo artist.
“Visionary” commenced singing throughout Jamaica where he developed a strong following of supporters for his music. His experiences became broader when he had the opportunity to travel the world; he visited such places as Guadalupe, Antigua and the United States. While in the US he stayed in Philadelphia for sometime, where he enrolled in the Temple University music program and began teaching Art Therapy to at risk children. Even with much success in that field he felt the urge to reach a broader audience by way of his music. He then migrated to Canada, and was quickly able to find his niche, from there it did not take long for the Reggae scene to recognize this talented vocalist; who’s musical style is a blend of hard-core conscious lyrics and a cool blend of lover’s rock reggae.
“Visionary” has performed at cultural events such as Miss Canada World and Miss Ghana, while continuing to make appearances at various venues on the national and international scene. “Visionary” has entertained crowds at 3 of the top International Cultural Reggae Festivals in Canada situated in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary, as well as showcases on the Canadian Reggae Music Awards and Jamaica Day. He has shared the stage with top Reggae artists such as: Dobby Dobson, Prince Buster, Maxi Priest, George Nooks, and R&B crooner Regina Belle to name a few.
In 2005 “Visionary” released an epic called “Look to the Hills” which created much chatter and led to the anticipated full-length album entitled “Brace Yourself”, which was released in 2007. Working closely with Mr.Willi Williams ‘The Armageddon Man’ one of the foundation members of reggae music out of the Drum Street label, the pair were able to gather Sly Dunbar and some of the Old Studio One players for this project; giving respect to the old and initiating the new. The out come has proven strong and memorable; this album is able to stand alongside any existing Studio One release. “Visionary’s” music can be heard as far around the world as Africa, Jamaica (IRIE FM, Roots FM), and Canada (CHRY 105.5, VYBZ 85.5).

The production has 14 Tracks and features some household names such as Gentleman, Luciano, Louie Culture, Lady G as well as newcomers as Nkulee Dube, the daughter of Reggae legend Lucky Dube, who performs her first Reggaesong on the Aspire riddim.
