Pianist Michael T. Jones, a native of Washington, D.C., has made Buffalo his home since 1997, shortly after graduating from Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Steve Gadd, David “Fathead” Newman, Don Menza, Ritchie Cole, Ira Sullivan, James Moody, Buck Hill, and Ernie Andrews. He has recorded with Michael Civisca, serving as his musical director since 1998. He also made numerous appearances with the late Keter Betts, Ella Fitzgerald’s long-time bass player, including an appearance on Keter’s CD, Live at the East Coast Jazz Festival, with Dennis Mackrel, Jerry Weldon, Dave Steinmeyer, and Etta Jones. Michael’s latest project is a duo piano CD, Redd-Jones, with pianist Robert Redd. Michael has also recorded over 100 albums for the Q.R.S. Pianomation system and several player piano rolls in his work as an arranger for Q.R.S. Music Technologies.
