Rock n' Roll, rebel, poet, philosopher, hopeless romantic, storyteller, guitar slingin' outlaw in black are only a few of the diverse descriptions of gritty singer & 'Prolific' songwriter Michael Ubaldini. His Latest Album (To be released August 25th 2009) continues in this tradition. This artist obviously defies categorization. and while back in the day when many bands in Southern California were entrenched in Hardcore and Punk (Black Flag Social Distortion & Agent Orange) Michael was as usual Doin' his own thing following no rules by mixing Hard American Roots Rock w/ Driving Melodic Garage Power Pop/Folk music& Country western & Blues slapped some 4 part raunchy harmonies on top & wound up creating his own definitive sound with his Bands THE EARWIGS & MYSTERY TRAIN "and was a forerunner into was to later to be known As 'Americana' or 'Alt Country' .The Los Angeles times stated he is "Better than Bruce Springsteen at probing the national soul". From his heart and soul and the blood of the American dream, Michael and his cranking band rock the way people have forgotten how going against the plastic of most of today's Pop and fabricated Punk. Michael plays and sings his lyrics as if the world's gonna come to an end. He's been quoted as saying, "I can't betray the music. If it ain't real, it ain't worth it." Michael "The Rock n’ Roll Poet" has performed all over the world. He lived in Austin Texas “Overnight for a year” As he says (one his song titles)., and Criss Crossed the USA paying his dues and lives A ‘travlin' rock n roll troubadour circus life , writing and singing his songs filled with storytelln' lyrics and poetic images that he lives and has lived. "Jack Kerouac in a Black Motorcycle Jacket" as one music writer described him. Brian Setzer played on Michaels Empty Bottles Broken guitar Strings record on the track "Don't Say goodbye' & jammed with Michael at the Viper Room in Hollywood CA. Scott Schriner of WEEZER recorded in Michaels band, and the Late Joe Strummer of "THE CLASH" came out to the show as a fan. His Show at The Legendary "Palomino Club" (Now Defunct) was attended by Rock Legend "JOHN FOGERTY" leader of "Creedence Clearwater Revival” who got up & sat in. Michael is also a respected Poet. His book of lyrics and poetry ‘LOST AMERICAN NIGHTS’ published by Moon tide press(2007). Michael recorded at the legendary SUN STUDIO in Memphis TN-‘The Birth Place of Rock n Roll’ for His “Empty bottles & Broken Guitar Strings Album in 2006. He has performed at the CAVERN CLUB in Liverpool England. And THE RYMAN GRAND OL' OPRY in Nashville. He co-starred in the live stage show of "The Who's Quadrophenia" as Head of the ‘Rockers’ , has played shows with such diverse greats as Lucinda Williams, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Cramps, Dave Alvin, John Hammond, Leon Russell, South Side Johnny, Billy Zoom and John Doe of "X".' His 2007 release "STORYBOOK" along with the U.K's "Raucous records release of Michael's "The Mystery Train Sessions" (A re-issue of Michaels first CD from EMI in 1994) shows his unwavering Staying power.) He has written over 500 songs and continues to be a prolific writer. Either with his band or only a ‘Lone Street Troubadour’ w/ acoustic guitar& harmonica songs and soulful voice- Michael is an ‘American Rebel & Rock n roll Poet’.

Although there is a thriving regional and national Americana and roots scene now, it's easy to forget that Ubaldini has been at the forefront of the movement since his Lee Rocker-produced "Mystery Train" was released in 1994. Brother Michael, thanks for the shout back...I meant the kudos this morning with the utmost respect...I'm not blown away too often with new music...however, you've truly "brought it" with this new album & Scandal is a true rocker reminiscent of Rembrandts & early Plimsouls! I did have an early on idea where you were going from Larry Green! Much, much kudos my brother...I'm turnin' on a lot of new friends to an old friends new music!!!!!! Just roamin' thru my friends, and I was reminded how truly great of a songwriter you are. It's a talent and ability, to me, that I've always respected in musicians.
