Michael LePaul Williams, son of the late Junior Medlow Williams, Texas legendary bluesman, is one of the few guitarists who can claim by heritage and genuine talent the title of "guitar slinger". Michael immediately draws comparisons to his mentors Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix with his blistering licks and performance energy. Add to this his soulfoul vocals and song writing skills and you have the ingredients to Michael’s seemingly boundless talent.
Michael, 30, has already had the opportunity to work with many accomplished musicians. Besides playing with his dad, Junior Medlow and the Bad Boys, he has played with Willie Nelson, Chris Duarte, Breedlove, and Elvis T. Busboy. He has opened for the Spin Doctors, Delbert McClinton and Merle Haggard. Michael’s former band, "Mojo Hand", won the 1996 Battle of the Bands in Lubbock.
After the death of his father, Michael moved to Seattle to pay tribute to one of his heros, Jimi Hendrix. There he formed, the Michael Williams Band, consisting of veteran players, Tony Williams on drums, Gerald Turner who plays masterful bass guitar and Ryan Shea Smith ..boards. The Washington Blues Society nominated them as "The Best Unsigned Band." Michael performs in Austin, Houston, and the Seattle area. This year may prove to be an exciting year for Michael with a new record release.
Following in the footsteps of his beloved late father, while finding his own musical path, has led to Michael’s success. His father would certainly be proud.
Hey Michael! When are you gonna head North and play for us? Grab Mateo and come up to the bay for the blues festival. It will be like a family reunion.....lol! Much Love - Julia
Hello Michael sorry I couldn't make it to your show the other night, but I will be out to see you. I do not know if I wrote you about the new music scene myself and some friends are building, but would you want to be a part of it? And if so can you come out to play this weekend for a private party o July 26th in Korean Town at about 5 PM? ANd we are lauching this new music scene tomorrow night at a club called Pehrspace Gallery in Echo Park located at 325 Glendale Blvd. just 2 bloccks south of Temple St. It's $5.00, 18+, byob and it's a coll spot to jam. I believe Rene will be there to cover it for the NEC, but I believe you would be a great big part of helping make this scene go somewhere, so get back at me because this scene will help everyone on it and in it.
Peace R.E. King I
PS. My band Surrender The Pink broke up 2 weeks ago, but my new band is called 'THE BIG BOOTY PARTY' it's Jimi Hendrix meets The Sex Pistols/Jeff Buckley it's pretty fun to watch (I hope, naw it's very cool)
What a re-defining age we live in, Apart of a cure-all nation, with its own vices of course. It is unfortunate some can not comprehend the beauty that is life. Some consider themselves lucky to go on living in blissful ignorance. We were all sadden by the recent chapter that ended so tragically. But if we take into consideration the “system of life”, you were witness to one of the most beautiful moments that could ever occur. And even in the ending verses of death, there is a new light born. I hope others wake up soon. All the best wishes to you and yours. ~ Danyelle Sanders

In between classes about a year ago I stumbled into a KTUH music sale, KTUH being the campus radio station over here at the University of Hawaii on Oahu. I saw this and bought it for a couple bucks, and I was definitely blown away. Gets regular play on my ipod 'till this day, I love me some Cleopatra and Diamond in the Ruff.
I'm sure Williams would be surprised at just how far his music has travelled and the fact he has fans in the strangest of places.
