Mikey Mike's Interests
General
I like the jazz music. I like wine (dry bold red wines please). I like to teach individual voice lessons, and whatever else I have knowledge about, or don't have knowledge about. I like philosophy discussions, especially when I win them. I like food, especially when I make it myself. I love my family, even my three brothers. I like dance, pilates, and riding my bike. What else can I say? Oh yeah, and homestarrunner.com.
Music
I listen to all types, except for most lame country music. You might see in my CD collection things like Billie Holiday, Blossom Dearie, System of a Down, The Darkness, Coldplay, Verdi, Fiona Apple, Faure, Mozart, Schubert, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lee Morgan, Thelonious Monk, Houston Person, Led Zepplin, Madeleine Peyroux, Imogen Heap and many many more! I arrange jazz music and am working on writing jazz music. I sing lots of things, I try to stay versatile.
Movies
I like comedy movies, like Tommy Boy, Waiting for Guffman, Anchorman, and Dumb and Dumber. I like other types too, like Memoirs of a Geisha, Munich, and Crash. You know what movie you should never watch? Must love dogs, don't even touch it. I can't remember a lot of movies I like, so just ask me.
Television
I don't have cable, I have a life. By that I mean, I don't have money.
Books
I just read "Alone in the Kitchen with and Eggplant." "Blue like Jazz" is my new favorite. I also liked David Copperfield, Ovid's Metamorphesis, and the Iliad.

About me: Hi! My name is Michal, yes it's not Michelle. Any questions? I live in Portland, work at a bank, and sing when I can. I sing mostly jazz, but I was trained classically. I write my own music, and am recording an album. I am a Christian and I mean that when I say it. Check out my music page at www.myspace.com/michalangelamusic.
You get more and more beautiful all the time!!! I wish I could have caught your show because Lord knows I'd love nothing more than to sit in a room, drink lots of wine, and listen to your beautiful voice!! I hope things are going well for you!
I actually saw her outside in a small park covered by trees, surrounded by buildings, keeping the humidity--and the sultry soul vibe--trapped in a box of sound. There were a ton of older black people and a couple of white folk, and Leela gave us the good news of neo-funk/soul/gospel. She was great and a lot of people got on stage and danced with her and then she left the stage in Spirit-provoked jitters and convulsions as they laid the towel over the back of her shoulders and escorted her offstage (JB style).
not a lot except we settled on a date to visit you. July 7-11. it will be Graeme, Nate, Jd, Ian, and Gunn myself. Don't worry we will have something figured out for sleeping places. And I will give them all talks to behave themselves. Yay! I can't wait!
Yup. I'm pretty much mostly there now. It's been a complicated couple of days, but since nearly everything I own is there now, I guess I live there. Though I just discovered that one of my new favorite bands, Punch Brothers, is going to be in Portland July 3rd, so I'll be back up shortly. Everything good happens once I leave... Someday maybe I'll be able to catch one of your shows.
I'll have the letters on Sunday, printed them today. So I listened to your music several times this afternoon. Seriously great stuff! I'm excited to hear your album when it comes out.
I was on the side of town east of the tornado, so there was no damage to my house..BUT I have a few friends that were hit really hard. I am going to post those pics tonight. Everyone is okay, just a few scratches.
that soul song I wrote is called Sad Sorry Fool. We should hang when you're in NY. I want yer whole family to come over my crib for dinner or something, but I will of course ask Davis' permission first.
Umm, I probably missed the boat on this one, but do you have a new phone number? Give it to me. I'm coming to Oregon to see my brother's foosball game this weekend, so I'll be in the valley.
so the dates of my portland adventure are june 5-10, so try and keep sometime in your busy banking/singing/living/beingcool/etc/etc schedule to hang with me!
see ya soon.
oh, and i'm going to a concert by my FAVORITE band on sun may 8th.....you should come. check em out----crystal castles they're called, and it will be awesome
You might be onto something, there, Michael.....I'm trying to be quiet about it, lest I jinx myself...but it is the firefighter I referenced in my Costa Rica blog....he's a friend of a friend and lives here. He's great thus far, so we shall see....:)Hope you are well!
what up mikey? just wanted to let you know that i'm planning a trip to p-land sometime in early june and it will be for a few days... i'm stayin with tawny again, but i'll for sure make some time to hang out with you.
and if you know of any gigs that you have in the works sometime around the beginning of june, let me know so i can plan my trip to see it.
Sup Mike! I am giving you the 'what what' that you asked for. You should be ashamed of your profile song. Cool chorus, but the rest of the song is big time lame burgers. If you really love your brother, you'll change it.
Most definitely! New York is great. I am working in finances, learning all sorts of stuff I never thought I would, & am just starting to get involved in the music scene. I sing in a church choir & am looking at taking some grad school classes here & there to start working on my master's degree. I would love to catch up with you in May though! I generally work 9-5 during the week, but I can always work around my schedule. Hope all is well with you on the far West coast! :)
